Bless, Father Don!

Well, I had to read your post carefully - I thought you were describing Daniel n the Iconophile! smile smile

Actually, Dan is a pussy-cat by comparison to some others here!

And Dan will always apologise when he is called on for things he says.

I respect Dan greatly for that.

And that is how I realized you weren't talking about Daniel n . . . smile

This Forum loves you, Father Don. It loves you in a way it loves no one else, believe me!

Alex,

Good to see your words again. I know that you like to call Don from Kansas "Father". I don't recall when you first started doing that but have always assumed that it was honorific. Am I correct?

Thank you for your kind words. It's good to know that I have not abused you as I was accused of doing. But if I ever do, let me know about it.

"Kind words"? Apparently the only way Alex can defend Don is by insulting me! Tell you what Alex, I'll avoid conversing with or about you if you will return the favor.
I would point out that every time I have unintentionally offended you, who love on your part to jest, I have apologized. Are you still confusing me with Daniel the Byzantine Ascetic?
I think in general people on this forum are too thin skinned and too easily turn to personal attack when we really, if we're even going to participate in such a conversation, should realize, as Michael says, that it is pretty one-dimensional. Surely I don't recognize myself in the image some of you have formed of me, and I get the sneaking suspicion that if some of us who have clashed here had met in real life we would have hit it off...

Actually Dan, Alex calls him Fr. Don because when he was first began chatting on here he was an Old Catholic priest, as Don as mentioned several times. Alex believes that once a priest, always a priest. He has a point. Moe

Don,

Dan's post was indeed insulting and demeaning to you and djs. It was the type of ad hominem attack that leads me to wonder how the poster can read it, look in a mirror, look into his heart, look into his soul, and still feel comfortable calling himself a "Christian", let alone a Catholic.

I can't honestly say that I recollect any occasion on which Dan has attacked me, as you mention in your post, but I have no doubt that I am one of those "liberal" or "secular" types who so aggravate him.

Don, I pray that you'll reconsider your decision to leave. You offer a great deal here, a gentle outlook which helps to balance the narrow-mindedness of some. If you decide that you cannot continue, I hope you realize that you will be missed and will remain in the prayers of many of us.

Many years,

Neil

Dear Daniel n,

I apologise for having given offense to you.

But, as you yourself have said in the past when I took offense at what you have said to me, it was not intended as an offense, but in jest.

So you are saying that what you say to others cannot be said to you?

I know you are too fair-minded an Anglo-Celt to think that way! smile

Neill,

If you write something insulting or unfair I will be tempted to respond. Such occasion has not occured. Sometimes silence is the best approach. Sometimes one must speak up.

Just a little observation on the overused accusation of the term "ad hominem". It is more often than not the first refuge of a coward. But I suppose you think that comment is an "ad hominem". I should add this: What you think of me is not my business.

Don't worry, be happy...everyone!!

There's really no reason for all this consternation on an Eastern Christian forum. Let's all (including me) try to curtail our anger streaks so the Forum can run smoothly. It seems we are all advanced in Christ enough to do that, as a bare minimum.

Since the Celts are not Teutonic and the Angles are not Celtic, would someone care to explain what an "Anglo-Celt" is?

You know it's been a loooonnnnnggggg COLD winter !
Last week I said that spring was two weeks away, but today it was 67 degrees here in Boston (at least that's what my car thermometer said). Everyone here has been much happier, friendlier, and more relaxed. I trust that the warm winds will bring spring chear to all of you in the very near future. Don I hope you return sometime soon. All you others please keep posting - at least I enjoy the debates.

Incognitis- an "Anglo-Celt"? That's a term I came up with to use whenever I fill out a form that has a space for "race". It describes my ancestry: English on my mom's side and Irish and Scots on my dad's...
