Now, I am certain that the author of this piece is referring to us Latin Catholics, since almost all of the crybabies can be found in our ranks. She is spot-on correct.

Why did she limit it to America? Western Europe needs a shout out too.

Amen!

P.S. Reading that article made me decide to get rid of the Mountain Dew I was drinking. Even in the little things, so many of us are so spoiled!

I read a poll yesterday that said 81% of American Catholics think Benedict XVI was a great choice for pope. I think there is a noisy minority that gets press coverage far in excess of its actual influence.

American Catholics are the most spoiled Catholics on the planet. A Catholic in Baghdad just hopes that his church won't be bombed this Sunday; Sudanese Catholics hope that they can face another day without brutal, unspeakable religious persecution. In many of the dioceses of the world, a roof on the church or running water would be nice. And we, in all of our prosperity, want more ease.
No comment is necessary.

Absolutely!! We should thank God every day for the little things. A warm dry place to sleep, hot showers, enough to eat. Too many of our bretheren(sp?) lack all these things and suffer worse tribulations.

We are truly blessed here in the USA.

Yes, we are blessed, and many of us simply don't realize it. I have not always been grateful for what I have.
