Can someone give me more information of Archbishop Vsevolod. I heard that he is very well respected even with the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Is there some kind of biography, or interesting stories about him? Just curious. From what I've heard of him, seems like a very good bishop and ecumenical as well. Lauro

Dear Lauro,
Mar Stuart Koehl is a personal friend of Vladyka Vsevolod and he would know much more about him.
Vladyka has truly been the voice of reason and temperance in Ukrainian Church life, Catholic and Orthodox, in North America.
He is well respected by the UGCC people because of his ecumenical understanding and love.
May all our bishops be like unto him!
Many years, Vladyko!
Alex

Alex Vladyka is a wonderful bishop, and I believe, a truly holy man. He's the best friend Greek Catholics have, anywhere--including the Vatican. He knows and understands us well, our history, our strengths and our weaknesses, and he is devoted to finding ways both to bring us to the fullness of our Tradition, and to eventually bring unity between us and our Orthodox bretheren. The unity of the Kyivan Church is the vehicle through which he works towards these goals, and he was one of the founders of the Kyivan Church Studies Group, which brought together Orthodox and Catholic theologians, clergy and scholars to discuss the history of the Kyivan Church and ways to facilitate its reestablishment as a single ecclesial entity. He is one of the co-patrons of the Society of St. John Chrysostom in North America, and a frequent contributor to Eastern Churches Journal. Recently, he was tapped by the Ecumenical Patriarchate to moderate discussions between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate and the Autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church--must to the chagrin, disgust and dicomfort of the Moscow Patriarchate. One of his constant themes is that the Orthodox ought to take a more pastoral interest in the Greek Catholics, since we are flesh of their flesh and bone of their bone, and support us when the Latin Church imposes upon our prerogatives. His ecumenical writings have been anthologized in the book, We Are All Brothers", published by Eastern Christian Publications of Fairfax, VA.

AlexAlex, you never lie! Besides, Vladyka Vsevolod is one of the few bishops about whom I have only good things to say. Wish he was mine; sometimes he is. Eis pola eti, Despota!

Dear Mar Stuart,
Baruch haShem Adonai!
Well, I don't know about you, but I do commemorate the EP in my prayers for everyone and everything, and include Vladyka Vsevolod.
He can tell me what to do and where to go anytime.
As can you!
Alex

Thanks, It's nice and comforting to know that in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church we have Holy men like Vladyka Vsevolod. We should be proud of him and of his efforts and difficult but surely holy mission. I pray that men like him live for many years and spread the good news of Christ and keep working for the union of the Ukrainian Church. I think I'll write him down on my book of favorites with Metropolitan Sheptitsky, Patriarch Iosef Slipey,Patriarch Husar, Andrey Sheptitsky, Isidore Boretskey, etc. Do you people have any other names to suggest for me to write down? Lauro Do you people know of any other

Alex, Hey! That's great. You must be proud to have someone like him in the family tree. From the little I know about him, he suffered a great deal. I guess he's just one more of our heros. Lauro

Vladyka Vsevolod presented a relic to the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. Nicholas a few blocks from his cathedral. There was a full procession from his catherdral to St. Nicholas with the relic where he presented the relic to Bishop Michael Wiwchar.
He was also one of the founding members of the Kyivan Church Study Group, and has visited the Pope in Rome on his own. He has been a prominent guest and supporter of the Orientale Lumen conferences. A holy and great man. I've heard his psychology doctoral dissertation is a real marvel also.
Eis Polla Eti, Despota!

Diak stated: "UC - he lets his priests wear high backs - are you still going to go ?" Nope And even worse my cousin, a priest in his eparchy, wears them too! Oh well, I guess it's not the end of the world when a Ukrainian priest wears high backs. Maybe it's like learning to appreciate fine wine, you learn to like it.............

Are you sure? I think it is a sign of the End Times. I'm almost positive Jesus mentioned it in Matthew 24 somewhere. In between wars and false prophets and nation rising against nation and pestilence and all, I think He said "Ukrainian and Ruthenian priests will wear high backs, but do not be troubled, for these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet here." -Dave
