Do you think that all Eastern Churches should be in communion WITH or UNDER the Pope?

To say that those questions are 'loaded' would be a massive understatement! If I had to draft my own response I would say: "I am UNDER my bishop. He is in communion WITH the Patriarch of Kyiv-Halych and all Rus' [even that cold and dreary bit way up north ], who in turn is in communion WITH the Patriach of the West." Ребята, давайте жить дружно.

Both are appropriate terms to use as we are under the authority of the Pope and yet also in communion with him. He is responsible for us either way. Hence the long period of masses for him when he dies. To whom more was given more is also expected.

A poll is a curious way of expressing sarcasm, I'd say... KO63AP said: ...is in communion WITH the Patriach of the West."... Not so fast! Doesn't seem you have that option anymore. You can pick from the following official titles: -Bishop of Rome -Vicar of Jesus Christ -Successor of the Prince of the Apostles -Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church -Primate of Italy -Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Province of Rome -Sovereign of Vatican City State -Servant of the servants of God :p Logos Teen

Someones not been following the news I see, as there is no title of Patriarch of the West used by the Pope. Thank you Teen for putting up the list of titles.

Did I miss an infallible pronouncement recently? :p Patriarch Lubomyr is also missing the word 'Patriarch' from his listing in the Anuario. I blame shoddy Italian publishers. Ребята, давайте жить дружно.

Patriarch Lubomyr is not recognised by the Pope as a Patriarch, so dont expect to see that Title in the Annunario. Major Archbishop and Metropolitan is as good as it gets right now.

Perhaps the UGCC should stop calling the Pope of Rome the Pope of Rome until Rome calls the UGCC Patrarch, Patriarch. The Eastern Catholic Churches can simply refer to him as Bishop of Rome in Litanies, headlines, etc.

Here in this Eparchy HB is commemorated as 'Patriarch' in the Ektenia etc.
I tried to say Patriarch for HB Joseph some years ago while I was at Grottaferrata and an elderly Ukrainian monk could not correct me fast enough.

HB is regarded as the head of his Church, just that title of 'Patriarch' is not recognised at this stage. The only difference is the name and nothing else.

I refuse to answer when questions are worded thus.
I think the Churches should be in communion WITH each other. But then again, I support the idea that the Pope has a real authority within the Church. That does not mean that he is tyranical, or that he even must needs be exercise that authority by immediate and supreme jurisdiction. The See of Rome is that last court of appeal. Stephanos I

I did not bother to vote either as Spdundas has made his view on the relationship between the Pope and various heads of the churches very clear.
There is a balance in the Church and the Pope has responsibility for all the faithful.
The Pope does not run individual diocese for their bishops. The Pope expects his brother bishops to do their own job and that includes being part of their own episcopal conferences or synods.
