Angela's right, KL, take it easy. The last time Illya and the lads got jumped by a poster here I can tell you first hand it was not pretty...seeing the kids get hammered brings out the papa bear in some of us. wink (maybe that's why my kids call me bronzovyi vedmed')

... Or maybe it's only newcomer priestly families...
Dear Krylos Leader:

Considering that there are at present three Priests in the family (with more to come) and that Ily's great-grandfather on his mother's side was also a priest, I don't think that this statement really applies.

Non the less a rather low and entirely uncalled for blow.

Its not worthy of you.

thanks guys.

Randy,

I start school in september at saint pauls in ottawa so the goat will have to wait a couple of years, but when the time comes I will know where to go. Thanks.

As for the above thread, I was not trying to cause any sort of fighting or bashing. The word русь, like the eight-pointed cross is mostly used by russians these days. That shouldn't discourage us from also using these.

Russophiles UNITE! (russo as in русь)

Illya, may God bless you at the seminary next fall. I guess we'll miss seeing you September or October in Brampton (unless we keep driving to Ottawa).

As Pope Leo XIII said to St. Andrey Sheptytsky when he informed him he had decided to enter monastic life, "you have chosen the better part". You are doing the right thing - we need lots of clergy to fill the countryside of North America with onion domes. biggrin

hey there, ho there, wait a minute,

I am not going to the seminary in ottawa. In two years I will be going to the Russicum, but i think priesthood is out of the question. What our church needs is good deacons, real deacons. Oh, and a return to orthodox traditions. If Patriarch Lubomyr will be residing in Kiev, than he should start using the Kievan usage.

Interesting days ahead.

Ilya

Illya, notice I said 'clergy'. biggrin Readers, subdeacons and deacons are all clergy, you know (but not always treated...well better not go there). Sorry I confused St. Paul's w/Holy Spirit.

Still working on being a real deacon,
Randolph, archsinner

Ilya,

A friend of mine visited the Russicum a few years ago and was informed that they are not even training for the Byzantine Rite with the Russian Recension anymore but just for priests of the Latin Rite to be assigned to Russia. This seemed a bit like a bombshell to me!!! Is this at all accurate? He was told that they still celebrate the full Synodal Liturgy but nothing much more as far as Russian-Byzantine theology or praxis. Surely this can't be true!
