Fr. Anthony,
It occurred to me just now that the man who auctioned the evangelion said the owner was his own grandfather. Did anyone think to ask him for a picture of his grandfather or to try to track down a picture of him to go with the evangelion? Any information he can provide (like jurisdiction, location, name) could help to trace the history of it.

Dear Wondering,
No, I and the others did not think of such. If it really did not have any sentimental attachment to him, and that he did not want to donate such an item, we will just have to leave it as such.
Sorry about that.

Glory to God!
The evangelion just arrived a few moments ago. I carefully unpacked it, and placed it temporarily in the chapel in my residence. It is everything the photos on the website showed.
Now, a number of posters and I are trying to arrange a mutually convient date to bring it to its final placement. I will post more when the date is agreed upon. We will definitely post the actual photos of the event when it occurs.
Dear Wondering,
There is some inscription in the cover, but it is quite faded. So there is some historical root to its original owner.

Dear Father Anthony,
I must have missed something...where will its final placement be?
Thanks, Alice

Alice,
It will be donated to the Jerusalem Patriarchal Monastery on Long Island. They were the first to accept the donation offer.
I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Dear Father Anthony, Thanks. After coming home from work, I try to skim through as much as I can, (and after a full day, that can often be alot) but I often do miss posts. As you know, a Moderator's work is never done! Regards, Alice

An old Church Altar ended up as a table in a casino in Las Vegas - used for gambling. What Scripture does that remind you of? It struck me as to how desparately the darkness of this world is trying to strike back at the holiness of Christ. As Christ threw the money changers out of the temple - there, in the midst of money changers - what was once an altar ....well you know the rest. SAD so SAD! And to think we refer to Christ as the 'Altar' -though it is 'decommissioned', still. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on us sinners everywehre. http://theconservativevoice.com/ap/article.html?mi=D8I646T81&apc=9001
