Bless me a sinner, Reader Serge!

Traditionalists have lots of children? And I want children too . . .sniff . . .

They must be doing more things right than just the proper Latin pronunciation . . .

I'll have to attend our local Tridentine Mass group and see the full range of booklets they have on their church rack!

I am always open to all manner of advice and guidance!

Alex

Alex, you want children?

Now, don't take this the wrong way, but...for heaven's sake, stop hanging around this forum so much and do something more productive with your time! biggrin

Have a great day! smile

Dear Catholicos,

Touche! Touche!

Come to think of it, that does give me ideas on how better to spend my time . . .

St George is the patron saint of husbands (something to do with that spear of his).

Please remember me to him!

Alex

This is not a complaint, even if it sounds like it at first. smile

This is for all those folks who obviously have the greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit and who think using a lot of foreign languages is a good idea.

First, I can't even read Cyrillic letters...in a sense, it's all Greek to me, except for the fact that I know how to read Greek, so it's just a little worse. smile Let's get some people in here who can speak Spanish...now there's a language I sorta know my way around...can't speak it much anymore, but I can still understand it. wink

Secondly, I don't know German, so when I saw the German note Brendan left, I decided I'd copy and paste it into a translating box at Free Translation [freetranslation.com] . This is what I got as the translation:

Dear AK,

It agrees, speak may give that one on german -however no orthodox country -it yet orthodox Christians there to Germany is, but the german cultivation, and also the german language, have z. Zt. no large Bedeuting for orthodox bzw byzantinische matters, m. E. In other words, one can say yet, speak about have that the Russian and/or ukrainische larger Bedeuting in such an internet-forum. However only my E 0.02 are that.

Would greet,

Brendan

Just thought I'd share that, since I find these things funny. smile

Dear Alex,

Before my icon of Mar Geevarghese Sah'dha (Saint George the Martyr) at home, I will remember you.

It's a VERY cool icon...

Dear Catholicos,

Was that Middle German?

Sounds like the way some politicians I know talk all the time around here . . .

You are right, misunderstanding can occur even when we speak straight English.

This reminds me of the German couple who were having an argument as they were crossing the "Lovers' Bridge" in Munich.

An elderly German professor with a cane walked behind and observed them closely.

As they got to the other side of the bridge, the young woman turned to slap her boyfriend in the face, at which blow blood ran freely from his nose.

To this, the German professor walked up to the distraught couple and said in German, "Dear girl, you have gone completely too far!"

"Yes, you are right, sir!" the young woman replied. "I should have given him one way back there!"

Dear Catholicos,

Before I go on to, er, other things, and at your heart-felt suggestion smile I wanted to thank you for your prayer to St George.

The Oriental Orthodox have a great veneration for him, do they not?

What could you tell me about his cult in your ritual neck of the ecclesial woods?

Alex

Alex, Alex,

Take these things a bit more slowly. One can't rush these things. You asked for prayers to St. George at 12:20 and then came back and thank us for praying to St. George. Women don't like to rush that much...don't you know? eek

Dear Dan,

You are right, Friend, my bedside manner does need work . . .

"Quickies" should only apply to lunch-time, d'ya think?

It is Godmother not Grandmother, sorry about that.

Yes more children fuel the fires of Tradition. smile

I love the fact that the Brazilians have come back into communion with Rome. I hope that such treatment will happen elsewhere and that the vatican finally reconcile with the SSPX, SSPV, CMRI, etc. etc. etc. I hope that with this future reconciliation, the right of all priests to use the 1962 Rite will be given. ah, dreams.

Dear Alex,

The Syrian Church has many saints. But you wouldn't know it if you went to India. The only popular ones are the Mother of God, and SS. Thomas, Gregorios of Parumala, and George the Martyr.

Everyone has a devotion to these three. Most of the churches are named for them. Also, outside of most Indian churches is a shrine. A lot of the time, churches are deep inside vast estates, and so a shrine is put on the road so that you know the church is nearby. Sometimes these shrines are large, having within them a full altar, so that on special occasions the Liturgy can be celebrated within them. Other times, it's just enough for one nice sized icon. No matter what, the icons are usually one of these three saints, and Saint George abounds. Even Thomas gets the boot sometimes in favour of George and Gregorios.

Also, some of the oldest churches in India, and the ones known for miracles and stuff like that, they're named for George.

Mrs. Nimchek,

I don't believe that Serge was ever in the dog house. So far as I could tell he never displayed anything but well read humility.

I trust this post does not bring offense to you.

Dan Lauffer
