Hi everyone! Could you all please list Rusyn names for girls? I am aware of the traditional manner of naming the first daughter Mary, second Anna, and third Helen, but my friend wants more "variety".

Any suggestions?

Ksenia, Magdalina, Julana, Solomia, Paraskeva

Just some I can think of off the top of my head.

That is interesting. Though our first and third children are boys, #2 is a girl and we named her Ann.

WOOPS! That wasn't the site I wanted!

(I was looking up some ultrasound pics for a school project and pasted it by accident!)

THIS

http://www.carpatho-rusyn.org/crs/rnames.htm

is the site I intended to put.

I have heard the name "Afija" read in Hramoty; I suppose it is the same name.

I don't know where it comes from, but that might be an alternate spelling.

Okay, I have received more information:

Pajza is the diminutive of Pelagia, not Paraskeva as the article said.

Hafija is a form of Sofia. (And you can see http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iarelative&msg=7455.2&search=y for more info.)

Anastasios,

And remember, middle names NOT!

The first name IS the Baptismal-Chrismation name, and it is also the reason why we address our pastors and bishops with them and not their surname.
