Greetings everyone....

I am just wondering... whether this is God's will for Indonesia and South Asia for thier radical islamic fundamentalism. The Tsunami happen the day after Christmass and now the day after Pascha. I wonder what's cookin in heaven this days....
I think we need to pray for the victims and thier family. May Our Lord Have Mercy of them...

By MICHAEL CASEY, Associated Press Writer

BANDA ACEH, Indonesia - A powerful earthquake struck late Monday off Indonesia's west coast, killing nearly 300 people whose homes collapsed on them and spreading panic across the Indian Ocean that another killer tsunami was on the way.

ASIA - EARTHQUAKE
Earthquake spreads panic and death, but no tsunami yet

Jakarta (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Fifty people were killed and about 300 homes destroyed on the island of Nias, near the epicentre of a massive earthquake that struck off the coast of Indonesia on Monday, a government official said. The powerful earthquake is spreading panic but there have been no reports yet of it triggering any tsunamis, UN emergency relief office said on Monday. Meanwhile evacuation orders issued in Thailand and Sri Lanka were cancelled.

Up to now the Nias Island seems to be the worst hit. Agus Mendrofa, the deputy mayor of Gunungsitoli town, estimated that 10,000 people had fled for higher ground. "I can guarantee that dozens have died," Mr Mendrofa said by telephone. "Gunungsitoli is now like a ghost town. The situation here is one of great fear". Mr Mendrofa added that roads had also been cracked by the quake.

ASIA MARTYRS DAY
Martyrs in Asia, the broken lives of Christs witnesses
by Lorenzo Fazzini

Rome (AsiaNews) Dozens of Christian men and women have died in 2004 because of their faith in Christ. Death struck them in Iraq, a country where Islamic fundamentalists have bombed churches and decapitated infidels; in Indonesia, where Christians have been murdered in the streets or shot down by snipers; in China, where the bodies of bishops have been returned to their families after years of detention and silence; in Hindu India, Muslim Pakistan and Muslim Bangladesh, where Christians have been attacked and some lynched for blasphemy; in Vietnam, where Montagnards are oppressed for their faith.

It is very likely that the number of martyrs is greater were it not for countries like North Korea and Laos that are too isolated for anyone to know the harsh conditions in which Christians live.

This year, the 13th Day of Prayer and Fasting in Memory of Missionary Martyrs, which is celebrated on March 24, falls on Good Thursday. For the occasion, AsiaNews is publishing a list of some of the Christians killed in Asia in 2004 because of their faith.

I have no idea about God's wrath, since He never consults with me about that. However, I think there is much going on in the world that could provoke Him to anger. I think our only approach is to watch and pray. If there is a pattern to any of this, it will become clearer with time.

Exactly... I thought about that too... yes we just have to be faithful and prayerful. I think that our Lord Jesus is with us... in good time and bad times.

Amen. That is true, in good times and bad times, He is still with us.

I am still puzzled on why the Tsunami and Great Earthquake occur one day after Christian Holiday. First it was the Birth of Our Lord and the second is the Resurrection.

I know our Lord is just and merciful and very forgiving one...

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

St Luke: 21:11

Randy, HE IS RISEN AND AMONG US BY HIS HOLY SPIRIT! I don't think anything happens without a message from the Lord being contained within it. You are correct. What might the Lord be trying to tell us here??? Perhaps we should place a sign above our computers saying simply: REPENT---FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEAR! For surely it is closer today than it was yesterday and yet it will be still closer tomorrow! Time is precious...our growth often slow...no time to waste. Awake my lazy soul and return to my Father's house!

In His great mercy,
+Fr. Gregory

Thank You Father Gregory,

Your spiritual guidance worth a life time. I am very grateful. I am actually more religious now than when I was stubborn and selfish in the eyes of our Lord Jesus Christ. Every day, I pray for all my sin either in my memory or hidden in my consiousness. Please keep me in your prayer Father Gregory. I know I am the worst sinners in the eyes of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Randy, CHRIST IS RISEN! I will put your name on my daily prayerlist...but I ask that you pray for ME too? I think we could probably argue for a LONG time about who's the greatest sinner, but I'll bet you that I'd win that prize hands down! biggrin

Much love to you!

In His great mercy,
+Fr. Gregory, who needs YOUR holy prayers!

I don't see how anyone could suggest that this tragedy is somehow "GOd's judgement or will" on these poor people (mostly women and children) who have been killed. God is with those who are helping in relief from this disaster

Remember "I have no hands but yours"

I am worst sinner on this message board. I tried to do all different kinds of penance for my un-repentants sin... May our Lord Forgive Me...

I don't know if God is chastising the people of Indonesia or not, since he chastises whom he will, but after more than 30 years of Roe v Wade, I often wonder when it will be our turn. Perhaps when we legalize euthanasia and homosexual marriage it'll be the final straw.

My Dear Randy, CHRIST IS RISEN---AND IS IN OUR VERY MIDST! Believe me when I tell you, I'm not making little or light of your sins...but it reminds me of a Hasidic story.

Once upon a time a pious Jew went to the very famous Rabbi Yerachmiel and said to him, "Rabbe, I am now old and all my years I've studied the Torah and prayed and been an observant Jew...I've tried to give to the poor, care for those who are less fortunate, and tried hard to repent of all my sins, but still I don't feel I've repented enough...what can I do?" The Rebbe thought and then said, "Try not thinking about yourself so much...and instead, think of and do for others!"

Maybe that's the thing to do Randy? smile Sometimes I think that some people concentrate so much on their sins that they become paralyzed and unable to do all the good that they could do. Be sorry for your sins...make good use of Confession and make an Act of Contrition each and every night before bed, but I don't think it's good to focus on our sins only. Better to loose yourself in service to others and their needs. I could be wrong about this (and other holy Fathers and pious faithful here may wish to correct me...and I'm open to that), but I think that our focus should be on THE LORD and LOVING HIM and LOVING OTHERS...not constantly on looking IN at our sins. Just my poor thoughts.

Much love to you Randy!

In Him Who is Risen,
+Fr. Gregory
