one thing I like about the "strict" Jews here - They still are unable to say the name of God - they use "Hashem" ("The Name" in English) or "Adonai" ("My Lord") the closest thing is "Alokim" ...
At the meantime we are stuck comparing the Lord Almighty to a politician who cannot get his name spelled right ...

Maybe im young and have not seen much in life - but i bet if our Lord was a politician He would probably do what all politicians do: BLAME THE ARABS FOR BEING TERRORISTS AND CALL FOR WAR ... ehem ... and i think the cross would be out of the question ...
just a point that may raise some thoughts ...

What's so awful about thinking of Mr. Bush as a god? Ever hear of deification?

I have great faith in President Bush. He is correct on the majority of the issues (but not everything). He is a strong leader who is defending and extending liberty. This in no way makes him a god.

Well, if Pres. Bush is a god, he must be a monotheistic one with conservative values, but if Pres. Clinton was also a god, then I think that he was definitely more of the Mt. Olympus type! LOL!

(I think the topic is innapropriate, and the negative comments and sarcasms made by both Americans and foreigners here to be somewhat offensive, so I am trying to make light of the subject matter... I respect and find good in all our presidents, imperfect creatures, unlike the rest of us--ofcourse-- that they may be!)

No I didn't vote yes. Come on, it would have been a joke. He's only human, but he is sincere, and I do believe he is trying to do what is best for our nation and the world.

I also believe that if certain elements within our society weren't trying to do everything to descredit him, they would probably agree with most of his stances. :rolleyes:

Because a rediculous poll was made on whether President Bush was a god, I have to assume that they mean the head of an empire.

Now I know the French refer to us as 'the Empire'. They are faulty in their reasoning, because an empire rules over different people and cultures. As far as I can tell, we still speak English...and we are all citizens, or potential one's. Also, we had no intention of retaining either Germany or Japan after the Second World War.

Actually though, I believe many of the problems that had occurred in the past century, (including Vietnam and the Middle East), was because France was insisting on acquiring and retaining her colonies...in order, of course, to compete with other 'empires'.

But as the Greeks say, we can only judge others through ourselves. France, and the nations under her influence, are certainly looking at us through their own eyes...or the eyes of France.

The problem is that the Europeans cannot equate religion with politics. To them, being conservative and religious can only be related to a 'nationalistic' tendency. I recall so well what one European newspaper said when Reagan was elected, "America has voted in a Fascist".
