Dear Angela, Yes, I suppose Lourdes is still in France. Does that mean it is outside of civilization? :p Or is it the UK that is outside of civilzation? :p Or, are you going to Ukraine on 25 May? May you and yours have a blessed pilgrimage. . . . on the 22May we return to the UK arriving back in Civilisation about the 25th

Hehehe Sorry - Brit thing According to the English, civilisation stops at Watford Gap [ Service Station on the M1 going towards Birmingham (in the Midlands) not very far from London] We Scots say that we are back in Civilisation when we cross the Border and are back in our own Land. However according to an old Statute, Scottish Citizens are also Citizens of France - am busy looking for that one :p - could be fun! Life on this side of the pond is fun !! And I see that the Byzcath Community over here is growing even if it is all down South

Lourdes is still in France? I thought they might have taken a cue from Congress and moved to Freedom. :p (This Freedom Fries nonsense is ridiculous, btw, I just couldn't resist this one.)

Yeah, we have all started calling my tennis coach "Freedom" (he is French). We'll introduce him and say stuff like, "This is our coach, Mr. Beheton. Don't mind his accent, he's Freedom."
LOL, it's all tongue-in-cheek, I think the freedom stuff is ridiculous as well.

Dear Angela, Thank you for the clarification. As for the Byzcath Community being down South, do you realize that that is what the Tsar said about the Ukrainians? They turned out to be rebels in their own way. Originally posted by Our Lady's slave of love: And I see that the Byzcath Community over here is growing even if it is all down South

Dear Mor Ephrem, Yes, it's still there. But just for the information of anyone who might want to know, there is a replica of the Lourdes grotto built near Emmittsburg, Maryland, in the area where St. Elizabeth Ann Seton lived and taught. It is a pleasant place to visit. Originally posted by Mor Ephrem: Lourdes is still in France? I thought they might have taken a cue from Congress and moved to Freedom. :p
As for Freedom Fries, I'm for freedom, and for justice, for all people, in all nations. Sometimes talking and talking and talking just won't get you there. The fries are not authentically "French fries" anyway, any more than "English muffins" or "Canadian bacon" are authentic. What we call them is a matter of popular opinion. Perhaps "pommes frittes"? Anhelyna, please remember this poor sinner, his family, intentions and vocation in your prayers to the shrine of the Mother of God.

Anhelyna, Please remember me and my intentions while you are there. I am looking for some new devotional stuff for you and have also found another copy of "Five for Sorrow, Ten for Joy". Don

Another Slave of Jesus in Mary here. I humbly ask your holy prayers at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. I have recently been intruduced to a "new" Saint, Saint Joseph Moscatti, M.D. He visited that shrine back many years ago and writes of how tender (and enthusiastic) the devotion was there to the Mother of God. Be sure to spend time in quiet and silent prayer before so holy and chosen a place. Don't forget all your friends on this Forum who join you in spirit in humble prayer to the Mother of Jesus. Thank you! Silouan, old monk and Slave of Jesus in Mary

Now how could I NOT find a quiet place for prayer somewhere in the Sanctuary. There are to my knowledge no less than 3 Basilicas, The Immaculate Conception, The Rosary, and the underground Pius X. Then as well as the Grotto itself Mass is celebrated in The Adoration Chapel, St Joseph's Chapel, St Bernadette's Chapel , The Chapels of Ss Damian and Cosmos, St Maximilian Kolbe, the Crypt, the Prairie Altar. and the Altar at the entrance to the Rosary Basilica [ it's an open air Altar] and those are the ones that I know about ! Then of course you should not forget the Lourdes Parish Church - about 10 mins away from the Sanctuaries, and the other Churches in the town - which does include my favourite The Ukrainian Church. For those who are interested here's the website for Lourdes :- http://www.lourdes-france.com/bonjour.htm It's quite strange actually - the streets approaching the Sanctuary are always buzzing with people, wheel chairs and those special Lourdes Chariots , buses and coaches of all shapes and sizes - and yet as soon as you enter by either of the main Gates the place is quiet. The only place where they ask for silence and mobile phones to be switched off is the Grotto itself - though most folk do in the Chapels. If I really really want to be more or less alone - I go up to the Ukie Church - it's open most of the day and usually very peaceful - but Pilgrimage groups do have Mass there as well. I've always been lucky and had peace there - maybe just one of the nuns present or Fr Wasyl or the occasional visitor who is stunned at this little part of Eastern Catholicism is such a very RC area. Providing that I am there on a Sunday you have my promise that the Liturgy will be offered for the intentions of all who Post and Lurk on the Forum , and when I am down in the Grotto I will be offering my Rosary there for all Our Mother's Slaves of Jesus in Mary [ 5 I think it is now ] If I don't manage there on a Sunday on this trip I most definitely will be there on Sunday 3 August - an organised Pilgrimage leaving Glasgow on 1st August. My little list of prayer intentions is growing and it will go with me - never fear. Anhelyna

Hello,
Keep me as well as the Holy Apostles Fellowship in your prayers. I shall pray for your safe journey to Lourdes.
I'd like to be there someday, perhaps to be healed.
I know and sense that Lourdes is a Holy Place, where our Mother appeared.
SPDundas Deaf Byzantine
PS, Yes, Dundas is a very Scottish name, I'm a 3rd generation American. There's a Dundas Castle in Edinsburg. This castle is no longer owned by our clan, but we do own the other castle (forgot the name of it) and also we still own the Chapel of Mt. Carmel that's close to the Castle (ironically it's a Protestant Church now...I think like Episipilian or Church of England). Sad. Would like to see it return to the Catholic Church. It's over by the Queensberry? Or is it Queensferry? Ohh boy I'll have to look it up in our family tree book that can be traced back 1,000 years.
May God bless.
