I recently read this booklet.

It gives a overview of the Eastern and Western Churches in only 32 pages. Quite a feat by the author and contributors! All particular churches are briefly described. Nicely illustrated with photographs, charts showing the development of Orthodox and Catholic churches and census data of current or estimated populations of Eastern and Western particular churches.

This is a good introduction or refresher on how the diverse Eastern and Western churches developed from apostolic times.
