Wasn't a Pope given a vision of the horrors of the twentieth century? eek I believe he saw satan approach God and ask that he would be given one hundred years. Well we certainly had some hundred years...my gosh! And they say it hasn't ended yet.

Zenovia,

That was Leo XIII. He composed the now famous Prayer to St. Michael after the terrifying vision.

Here's a map that shows the spread of the Black Death. First hit were Constantinople, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, and the French Riviera:

Dear Dr. Eric,

Thank you for the map, it was quite interesting following the route. I noticed that it never reached Warsaw. And now for a little tidbit.

I recall hearing that someone coming, I guess from the Far East, popped up with the black plague in California. I think it was Los Angeles, and in and about the end of the 1920's. Fortunately the health department realized what the person had, and was able to find everyone that he/she came in contact with. Otherwise the situation might have been horrific since antibiotics didn't exist.

Zenovia
