Dear Friends,

The Western Rite of the Antiochian Orthodox Church has certainly been able to get a number of Old Catholics and Old Roman Catholics to join them.

During their conference in Toronto, I met two Western Rite priests who have been quite successful in bringing these into communion with Antioch - and they continue to do so.

I do think that Western Catholics who join groups that are separated from Rome, everything from the SSPX to the Old Catholics, do so because they have been hurt somehow etc.

Yes, they are wrong and yes we should work to bring them back.

But there are better ways to do this than by "horsemanure" comments and the like.

I think some of our TradLats here are wasted as simple laity.

They should be put in charge of public relations and communications on ecumenical committees . . .

As for Father Don, whether he was Eastern Catholic or Old Roman Catholic - that would not make one iota of difference in terms of how I honoured the great Christian that he truly is.
