Chocolate :sigh:

A rep from Hershey came into my store the Monday to check our stock and gave me a sample of a new chocolate bar we will be carrying. I almost kissed the woman when she handed me one of Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate bars. biggrin Then I turned the bar over and looked at the ingredients...there are milk products in the Special Dark bar! eek mad  whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Hershey tried to break into the Australian market and failed. Seems we will eat all sorts of chocs but are not keen on theirs. It was too different from the Cadbury's and Nestles who sell heaps of chocs here. I have a weakness for the Belgian chocs...oh and Lintz...and...

Truth be it, Hershey's formula is *quite* inferior and immature when compared to the age old 'wisdom' and formula used by the venerable Western European Dessert Fathers-- and that is why he just hasn't joined their laudable and esteemed ranks around here! wink

Yes, yes, forgive me Pavel...Actually, I did think of these two additional European saints of Chocolate after posting.

As you can see, we Americans are still chocoliciously immature in palette, and have no Saints yet of our own that can join in high esteem with the venerable Dessert Fathers.

Alice,
at the risk of having the Homeland Chocolate Security Office(based of course in Hershey PA.)after me, I have to admit that I much prefer European chocolate to our own wink

There is a place in New York - called, I believe, Chocolate Haven - which makes its own chocolate, to the highest standards. Give them a try!
