I've just finished another book on Pope Benedict XVI called Holy Father by Greg Tobin.

In one section of the book it quotes the then Joseph Ratzinger describing the events and feelings he had during his ordination with his brother Georg on June 29, 1951.

Ratzinger writes "At the moment when the elderly Archbishop laid his hands on me, a little bird - perhaps a lark - flew up from the high altar in the Cathedral and trilled a little joyful song. And I could not but see in this a reassurance from on high"

Nice !

Someone who knows God quite well once said to me: God is always talking to us; it's we who don't listen.

This is lovely. Yes, there is a purity of heart and simplicity of spirit in the new pope. I love it about the bird and most of all that he noticed it and remembered.

Thanks for sharing this. smile

More and more I realize that God is talking to us all the time and that I often just don't pay attention!
