"We do NOT consecrate married men as a Bishop, this was stopped back in 1987. Exceptions as set up in the Church's Holy Canons about married Bishops or not. Nor do we Ordain women to the Priesthood at this time."

I'm a woman, but the next time I'm in New York I can legally remedy that "impediment" to the priesthood. Just kidding fellas! The Most Holy Mother of God was most blessed and content in her female form, so who am I to complain.

Originally posted by Slavipodvizhnik: I see the Orthodox are not the only ones ... Alexandr, Not at all, but let's not count this one as EC, name aside. It's not, as that might suggest, derived from our home-grown Melkite renegade, Antoine Aneed (who founded a vagante ecclesia of similar name), but was born of lines originating with the Old Catholics and Orthodox. Frankly, the lot of us (Catholics of West, East, & Oriental persuasions, Orthodox of both the Eastern & Oriental Communions, and those of the Pre-Calcedonian Churches), in combination, have attracted enough such folk that, you'd be hard-pressed to find enough clinicians to screen the lot of them. But, as strange as the these folks are, one has to give Mar Markus credit for stick-to-itiveness. He was one of the very first of the genre that I came across, back when my interest in vagante ecclesiae and vagante episcopi was first piqued, back in college ( a long time ago). He has been around and functioning under the same jurisdictional name for 40 years - there are not many vagante who can make that claim. As to Apostolic Succession, his claim is significantly less grandiose than most (the typical claimant to same lists an average of about eight separate lines). It is also notable that both of his cited lines are ones to which some degree of authenticity is ordinarily accorded: - the Old Catholic line through Gul, Mathew, De Landas-Berghes, and Carfora, subsequently branching into the Zurawetsky- Klimovicz variant, and,
- the Antiochian-Russian line through Ofiesh, Bishara, and Zuk, subsequently continuing through Propheta
What I am saying is, that despite this photo [mimiller2.tripod.com] , in which the vestments have always put me in mind of a throw that graced the horsehair sofa in my Grand-Aunt Matilda's parlor, the man's episcopal lines might pass muster under the Augustinian Theory of Succession. Ah, the wisdom of Latin legalistic thought Many years, Neil

This one is still my favorite: http://www.education-1.net/justicelines.htm Imagine, an episcopal staff that doubles as a curtain rod! "Do you have a Vocation to Serve the Great Spirit and Humanity? Consider getting your University Education while you explore the possibilities. You may anticipate a life of Service without giving up marriage, normal activities, the ability to earn a good living and/or to prosper in Business. Jesus of the Forest Seminary is a College in the International Theological University. You may train to become an Independent Shaman/Priest with Full Apostolic Succession. You will have the same Power and Authority as any Russian Orthodox Priest or Catholic Priest but you may marry, have a family, accumulate wealth and answer only to The Great Spirit (God) rather than being required to be Obedient to any Church or Bishop." Alexandr, Without even clicking on the link, your reference to a curtain-rod (actually, a drapery rod; if you can't get your liturgical accoutrement terminology straight, you'll never get work at Home Depot ) reference tells me that we must be speaking of Patriarch, Metropolitan, Archbishop, Chief, Doctor Alexander Swift Eagle Justice. Last I checked, His Holiness was encumbered with more degrees than the typical graduating class from Harvard. Many years, Neil, reserving comment on the Chief's lines of apostolic succession, but noting that a Spruit line is not a strength in his book

I must have missed the "Bed Bath and Beyond" fieldtrip when I was in Jordanville! Although I do remember a mission church in Mississippi that used a shower curtain!

Alexandr Oh no! He's back! He still looks like Kathy Bates. Only she is a good actress and I'm not convinced by his acting. I just don't feel that he is a bishop. Maybe he should go to The Actors Studio.

Those of my advanced age may remember the chapel at the Vatican Pavilion at the NY World's Fair (sometime in the sixties, if memory serves me correctly). Well, some loony priest used the chapel for a celebration of what he claimed was the "pure Syrian" Liturgy (you couldn't tell by me). It was unforgettable, because by way of a curtain, the fool put up two green plastic shower curtains (with blue fish) across the gates of the Communion rail. They kept falling shut when they were, I guess, not supposed to, so finally the fool doubled them over the dowel that was serving as a curtain rod. The result was that he was visible, but only from the waist down.
This may explain why I prefer those Edwardian shower screens to shower curtains!
Fr. Serge
