Actually, I have met people like Churchwork before, and find their appalling ignorance more amusing than insulting. He has no impact on my faith, and my Church will still be around, in locality and universally long after he is pushing up daisies. I hope the poor guy makes it to Heaven, but I get the feeling he won't be happy there either. What if he finds a corporate structure in Heaven, now that would really be Hell for him, wouldn't it? LOL.

I would also welcome the enforced absence of Churchwork. There is no lack of fundamentalist forums where he would probably be welcome. Shunning him is not a bad idea either, but it would probably take too much space.

On the other hand, there's no particular reason to blame the Administrator for not acting sooner. What with problems with the server and the inevitable demands on one's time during the Xmas Rush, he probably just didn't get to it.

I agree with the motion as well. I have the utmost respect for the administrator, and believe he's done a very commendable job of moderating the forum, but right now it appears that Churchwork is the first poster in memory who's been given carte blanche to condemn and insult the religious beliefs of forum members. Allowing such an individual to continue in his tirades reflects very badly on the Byzantine Forum.
While I agree that Troy (Churchwork) has violated the limits of Christian charity to the limit of earning a suspension, I disagree that his tirades reflect badly on The Byzantine Forum. Troys posts reflect only on him. It is clear that his lack of charity combined with his lack of even basic knowledge of Scripture and history will earn him no converts to his cult.

For those who have asked (via PMs and e-mails), I am always slow to suspend posting privileges and never do so without consultation with one or more of the other moderators. In the case of someone like Troy, it seems that he purposely behaves in an unchristian manner so that, when he looses posting privileges because of uncharitable behavior, he can walk off reinforced in his false teachings much like closing the door to a Mormon or a Jehovah Witness reinforces them in their cultish beliefs.

I ask our Forum readers and participants to continue to pray for Troy.

I ask that we also examine our own posts, so that the next time someone like Troy joins our Forum we may be able to more effectively witness the fullness of the truth about Jesus Christ to him.
