It is no doubt that immigration is a big issue now in the US, but Europe really has a more pressing and disturbing case on their hands. A totally radically different culture is invading them and the Europeans are sitting on their hands. Truly sad.

Let us pray that Pope Benedict will be able to reinvigorate Christianity throughout Europe.

I hope so too, but I'm not one to be optimistic about Europe....

The contributors to the article, Bernard Lewis is a Jewish Zionist and George Weigel is a Christian Zionist, ignore their pessimism. Islam is not that strong a faith, It never truly competed against the West, only because christians controlled the ottoman empire's science, medecine, commerce and banking did it have any power. A unified spain easily beat back the moors. It's only the 1st generation with any islamic faith, the children are europeans now, soon to be christian. Post-secularism world is coming up, I should know I was born in 1982. Christianity is coming back, buy that stock.

France always had to deal with evil ideologies but the counter-revolutionary resistance was enough strong to keep that part of France alive.

Now, France is no longer a Christian country, after so many years of masonic education and secularism, that deprived families of their prime duty: having children for France.

And all because of the Gaulist invasion, when the Catholic order of Marshal Ptain was removed by the Allies and their partisan troops.

At the end, the France of Leon Blum won the battle.

Spain did not easily beat back Islam. The Moors invaded in 711. It took until 1492 for La Reconquista to be completed.

Time and again, until 1683, Muslim forces attacked various parts of Europe.

Islam no longer commands powerful armies. All they can offer is a mind-numbing cult that demands obedience and servitide to Allah. Islam rejects modern secularism. Do the secularists have the backbone to fight Islam? So far it appears not.

Mr Clean,
SPAIN did easily conquer the Muslims. It wasn't until the late 1470s that there was a unified Spain under Isabella and Ferdinand. They had hardly any trouble with them. The individual kingdoms had problems with the Muslims.

The truth is, the Europeans are much more intolerant of those that enter their country than we are...after all we are a nation of immigrants. Of course England is the exception, that's why so many immigrate there. I couldn't help but wonder while the French students were protesting for some rediculous reason, if it was in order to keep the minorities from having work? I believe that in the banlieu's, (suburbs where the minorities live), there is about 50% unemployment.

They say that the Europeans would rather they give their money to welfare in order to support them, while we prefer to have our immigrants work. Bravo for us! smile I think they feel that by keeping them from working, they will leave. But leave where? The Muslim countries will not take them back...it would be a disgrace for them to let go of some place they now consider theirs. shocked

Actually, it is a form of rascism on the part of the Europeans, which should make one realize that when the Europeans are so critical of us, they are really reflecting their own 'racist' attitudes upon us...and thereby interpreting everything we do, as being what themselves feel and do.

As an example: When Reagan became president, they automatically assumed he was a Fascist. That is also true about Bush, probably because he is religious, and religion in Europe is associated with nationalism...and thereby Fascism.

So, the Europeans are not as tolerant as they try to present themselves. ACtually they are very haughty and arrogant, especially the Northern Europeans, and consider themselves, their culture and way of life, as being more 'civilized' and therefore more advanced and superior.

In the meantime, the Muslims are now settled in Europe and consider those countries their home, and once the Muslims have settled on certain land, it is considered blasphemous to Mohammed to lose that land. Of course, more and more are coming in illegally by crossing Turkey into the Greek islands, and then progressing through Italy, while more are being smuggled into Sicily and Spain. Just imagine what would happen if Turkey entered the EU.

Well it seems they now have an immovable object; the Muslims, and an irrepresable force; the native Europeans...just like Israel or visa versa! Oy vey! eek eek eek

many factors and faults have contributed to the current situation of the Catholic church in europe; The "enlightment age" protestant reformation, nationalism, secularism, modernism and most sadly, the faults of the members of the Church itself. I think we cant expect that the church will never have the position it once had as it dominated european culture, but i do see it being on the up. Probally it will take one day when the number of mosques outnumber churches in a Catholic European own neighborhood. this will be the wake up call. As someone who was at world youth day in cologne, i can attest that the islamic presence is there and heavily, but the youth of the church is excited about the Catholic christian faith again and all it takes to fully convince the youth of europe is a combination of demonstation of sanctity(Pope John Paul II) and productive influence of Church teaching, guidance and direction which the "professor Pope" Pope Benedict XVI can surely do, and as a result i think the Catholic youth of europe will indeed answer the call and come to the aid of the Church that they love, the one Jesus himself found.
