Dear Anastasios,
Anastasios! Anastasios! Wherefore hast thou been, Anastasios?!
Congratulations on your impending Crowning in HOly Matrimony and welcome to our Pan-Slavic family as an adopted Slav.
Just bow your head before the screen, kiss your mouse three times and say, "Perogies, Kapusta and Halushky" four times.
And, voila! After your marriage, you will join me and others like me in, well, "Slavery."
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, at the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother, the HOly Crowned Ones Sts. Constantine and Helen, the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sts. Samunas, Gurias and Habib, the Great-Martyr Procopius and all Thy Saints, bless Thy Servant, Dustin and his Bride, and consecrate them to Thy Service, granting them many years of health and happiness! Amen.

May God bless you and your bride-to-be in every way. Will we get to see some photos of the wedding on the web? (Please, please, please).

Dear,
Alex: Thank you! But remember that "wherefore" actually means "why" so you are actually asking me: "Why have you been, Anastasios?" The answer is: cuz mama and papa wanted a baby! ha ha ha As for being an adopted Slav, I belive I am one of the few Americans who has gotten to an intermediate level in the Slovak language! As for pieroghi--yummy, but have you had sviec^kova? It is beef (or pork or chicken) in a sour cream and carrot sauce. Yummy!!!!
OurLady's Slave of Love: Thank you!
Axios: Thank you!
Fr. Elias: Thank you!
Vicki: Yes, there will be photos on the internet!
In Christ,
anastasios

"Yes, there will be photos on the internet!"
I hope that they will only be of the wedding. If not, I don't think that we will ever be able to view your posts in the same light.

Dear Gregory, I think photos of the reception would be both appropriate and interesting. Or what were you thinking about? Alex

Dear anastasios:
My favorite philosopher once said:
"To be a MAN, one must plant a tree, write a book, and sire a son!"
But not necessarily in that order.
Alex has a leg up on you because he has done the first two and is trying (I hope) to accomplish the third.
Many years to the betrothed!!!

Sorry folks but off topic slightly but very definitely connected. If the spelling gives up I'm sorry - but I have just had dinner [ it's that time difference thing again ] and dinner - since I have already been up for almost 15 hours- was a good one with what could be called a soupcon[ I can't get a cedilla in here - my apologies ] of Bordeaux Superieur. Please , please would someone explain to me the significance of the Crowns, I mean why are you Crowned in Marriage. This curious Latin Scot is dying to know. Angela

Dear Angela,
In the Byzantine Catholic Church, the Mystery/Sacrament of Matrimony consists in the crowning of the bride and groom, rather than in the marriage vows.
One priest I once discussed this with said he would prefer to dispense with the vows completely as they were not necessary to the Mystery.
Crowns of myrtle or else specially made Crowns are placed on the heads of the bride and groom to signify they are crowned with grace and mercy (Psalm 142) by God and become the heads of a new family/home.
This is also connected to Peter's "Royal Priesthood" and our calling to be "Priests, prophets and kings."
The Mystery should be performed within the context of the Divine Liturgy and is finally sealed when the married couple receive Communion together.
