Now the gays are attacking Jerusalem. But then, Chicago survived their recent attack. "The gay pride parade in Jerusalem has been canceled, but that still leaves another 165 hours of gay activities in Israel." So say opponents of the WorldPride events scheduled for Israel next week. http://www.israelnn.com/news.php3?id=109010 CDL

One good thing in the article. ...announced the postponement of the large gay march through Jerusalem streets "because of the war." Many observers say that the parade would have been canceled in any event, because of the tremendous opposition that had been building up. Jerusalem City Councilwoman Mina Fenton, who initiated a petition that collected tens of thousands of signatures against the march, told Arutz-7, "There is no question in my mind that even had there been no war now, the march would not have been held."

If it is cancelled in Jerusalem I told them that they could run the whole thing in your street Brian and you would not mind helping stringing up the bunting.

Pavel and Alice,
I agree with both of you though I would extend the objection to being beyond "sensibilities". An action can be justified even if it offends someone if said action would bring about a greater good. In this case is just produces more misery.
Israel faces destruction from radical Muslims who consider their religion (and yes I do know that a majority of Jews profess Atheism) beneath contempt and wish to destroy both it and the Jews. On the other they face a group of homosexual activists who consider the faith of the Jews to be beneath contempt and wish to dstroy it and them. I believe that the attack by the homosexual activists to be in some ways worse than the attack by the radical Muslims.
The Muslims seek to replace one form of Monotheism with another. The homosexual activists seek to replace a form of Monotheism with a religious perspective that is completely anti-Monotheist. It is cynical in the extreme.
As I've opined before given the two great opponents to Christianity, Islam or Atheism, the latter is the more dangerous and destructive.
To quote Ellie Weisel, "A Jew cannot exist without God. I cannot exist without Judaism." The destruction that the homosexual activists offer to Judaism and to Christianity is complete and total annihilation with only a mocking pretense to replace it.
The Christian alternative is kindness, compassion, redemption, theosis. It is not capitulation to perversion and abomination.

Hezbollah fires Katyusha rockets into Israel to kill the bodies of the Israelis. Homosexual pride groups fire the rockets of pride in immoral behavior into Israel to destroy the souls of the Israelis. The Katyusha rockets are the less offensive of the two.

I really don't understand why it is that homosexuality is being singled out here for special condemnation. Yes, the overwhelming witness of Holy Scripture and the traditional teaching of the Church is that homosexual acts (along with all other sexual acts outside the bounds of heterosexual marriange) are gravely sinful, and I am not making an argument against that. However, where is the righteous indignation towards other sexual sins? Where is the smug condemnation of greed? Where is the outcry over the exploitation of the poor by the wealthy? What about the sin of hypocrisy (a sin strongly condemned by Christ himself, and one of which I suspect we are all guilty from time to time-I know I certainly am)? As I said, I'm not arguing against the teachings of both Holy Scripture and the Magisterium. However, when homosexuality is condemned so harshly, as a whole host of other sins are ignored, we open ourselves to charges of hypocrisy and bigotry and I certainly do not see that as a way to have any success whatsoever in persuading those who do engage in homosexual acts that, while their behavior is sinful, God offers forgiveness to all and hope for a life of communion with Him, characterized by holiness. In peace, Ryan

Ryan,
You have it backward. No one is singling out homosexual activists for special condemnation. They are singling us out with their demonstrations.
Are there Adultery Pride groups demanding special rights for adulterers?
Are there Fornication Pride groups demanding special rights for fornicators?
Are there Greed Pride groups demanding special rights for greedy people?
Are there Hypocrites Pride groups demanding special rights for hypocrites?
See my point?

Well said, CJ. The homosexuals are the group that have publicly organized in an offensive attempt to negativly change cultural views and make their sin acceptable to society.

CJ: I have nothing backward. I'm not saying that what this group is doing is right. What I am saying is that we, who hold to the teachings of both Holy Scripture and the Church's Magisterium, should not single out homosexuality for special condemnation, which is most certainly being done here on this forum, on this and other threads, as well as in many other places where Christians gather. While there may not be (or maybe in some ways there are) adultery, fornication, greed, and hypocrisy "groups" demanding legitimization of their particular sins, it certainly is the case that these sins abound around us. The relative silence of certain Christians concerning sins such as adultery, fornication, greed, and hypocriscy, in comparison to their ongoing condemnations of homosexuality is disturbing and will do nothing to bring those who engage in homosexual acts to repent. It betrays what CDL says is the Christian alternative "kindness, compassion, redemption, theosis." Also, it puts us in danger of violating Christ's commandment not to judge, "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Matt. 7:1-5 RSV) I'm not saying that the Church should remain silent in the face of sin. What I am saying is that we should seek to avoid making hypcrites of ourselves, in accordance with the teachings of Christ himself. Let us be as bold in proclaiming the sinful nature of greed, hypocrisy, exploitation of the poor by the wealthy, adultery, fornication, etc., etc., as we are in in insisting on the gravely sinful nature of homosexuality. In peace, Ryan
