I homeschool my daughter and we start our day with prayer and reading the daily Scipture readings from Mass. On Saturdays we read, as a family, the readings for the upcoming Sunday Mass.
Or at least that's what we did before we started attending the Byzantine parish we attend now.
Where can I find a reference that will provide me with, at least a week in advance, the scheduled Scripture readings to be used? I'd like to keep our study in line with the Byzantine readings - but haven't been able to find a simple source.
Also, I know that the readings in the Latin Church in the U.S. are closest to (but not exactly) the N.A.B. translation of the Bible. What translation do most Eastern Catholic Churches in the U.S. use?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I'll also be asking our priest, but I hesitate to bother him with someone so insignificant at this time as he is undergoing radiation therapy for cancer.
Again, many thanks!
Carole

http://www.typicon.com/ The priest at the Melkite parish I go to made this program. You download it, and then you can find any reading or other various prayers that cycle up until the year 3000 AD. It's a neat program!

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Dear Carole:
Call Byzantine Seminary Press (412-322-8307) and ask for a copy of the WALL calendar. This gives you the readings for every day.

A few weeks ago I obtained "The Divine Liturgy for Congregational Singing" of which Professor J. Michael Thompson served as Conductor.
It is absolutely beautiful and truly a liturgical masterpiece. It is inspiring as well as motivating - I find myself driving to and from work playing both CDs and singing my heart out.
Thank you Professor Thompson for all that you do for us Ukrainian and Rusyn Catholics. God has gifted you so richly. Mnohaya Lita!

Dear Carole,
I'm curious: How old is your daughter? Do you use a curriculum from a home study school? I am a homeschooled high schooler enrolled with Seton Home Study School. They have a REALLY GOOD Byzantine Religion course for high school (I don't know about elementary or middle school though). If your daughter was that old (although I have a feeling she's not), I would highly recommend you look into it. I've learned so much from it and have grown very deep in my faith because of it.
Yours in Christ and the Theotokos, Gretchen AKA blessedbyzgirl
