I'll be getting married down here in Texas in a few short months. In addition to what we have, I'm seeking as many good reading materials and such as I can get my hands on. I'm sure that y'all (yes, I'm from Texas) would have some excellent recommendations and I eagerly await suggestions.

Thank you and may God bless us all during this Great and Holy Week!

Dear Henri, 'Marriage, an Orthodox Perspective' by John Meyendorff is a great book. Another which also explains much of the symbolism of the marriage rite itself is Archbishop Joseph Raya's 'Crowning: The Rite of Marriage'.

A good book with the lives of married saints is "Marriage as a Path to Holiness" by David Ford. Finally, if you want some real 'old-time religion' you can read "On Marriage and Family Life" by St. John Chrysystom.

St. Vladimir's Press has most of these 9except Raya), and Icon and Book Service usually has all of these including Archbishop Raya's book at www.iconbook.org [iconbook.org]
