Dear Friends, Just a note to congratulate the Administrator and the Moderators of Byzantine Forum for the great job they are doing in maintaining such an "A1" board! There really is no board like this one. People say nice things, they argue, they come back to apologise, they learn things . . . and they go home to pray for one another's needs. Most of the time, I can't tell who is Catholic, Orthodox, what have you. Unless of course one has a screen name like our colleague "OrthodoxyorDeath." Then I think we get the picture . Or else there's our beloved Orthoman too, who graces us all with his presence and his spiritual sharing. This board is democratic, it is fair, and it is courteous. Most of all, it is where I've come to know and love all of you. Alex

Dear Alex:
I second!
Because whoever can put up with your "pontificating" and encyclopedic knowledge of anything and everything and your "monarchist" leanings must be that durable and enduring.
I just hope you are not rushing to your 4Kth post.
Cheers to this board!!!

The Forum is a treasure. It is really a cyber community of fellow pilgrims. Thanks to the administrators and moderators who help to ensure that it continues to be so.
I am grateful to be here among you all.

Dear Alex:
Correction, please...
It's June 12, (1898), the 104th anniversary of our Independence from Spain, which is also, incidentally, my 23rd of wedded bliss!
We had our "Independence Ball" here in Chicago last Saturday.

Dear Amado, Yes, yes, June 12th - I helped organize a Filipino flag raising here so I should have remembered! Congratulations on your 23rd wedding anniversary on the same day! So on this day the Philippines GAINED their independence, and you LOST it You're a subject to a Monarch even if you don't care to admit it, Friend! But isn't such subjection to our Spousal Sovereigns, the Queens of our hearts, as sweet as can be? God bless, Alex

AnthonyDear Friends, Perhaps an Orthodox Bishop in France? Or Quebec? Better to be a Katsap than a Uniate ? Better to be a Katsap than to be called one ? Best to skip the pejorative names. Have a Blessed Day! John Pilgrim and Odd Duck

Ok, Ok.
A (long?) while back, someone posted that this forum is a type of "parish" -- lots of praying folks, lots of discerning folks, lots of arguing folks.
I'm sure that any group of bishops would have a collective fit of apoplexy, but the fact remains that I have never in my 50+ years of life been involved with such a widely varied group of seekers who are neither reticent to express their points of view, nor who are willing to castigate or shun brethren who espouse a different perspective.
Isn't that what Our Lord asked of us? Love of neighbor doesn't mean uniformity and lock-step adherence; it just means taking the time to listen and to really "will" the best for everyone whom one meets, especially those whom one meets through baptism.
Sometimes, when I think about all the folks who are here, and the discussions (and especially the prayers that are offered regardless of where one comes from), I actually shudder in the realization that in God we are all One. It is enough to shake one's soul to its depths, and to pray that I (and the rest of us) will continue to be the discussing, loving and caring folks that we have become.
I pray that our Lord, the Christ/Messiah/Savior, will look upon us and say that we are doing exactly what He has asked.
I promise that I will constantly remember ALL who both post and lurk on this forum in my prayers; and I rest in peace and quietude every night that all of good will here will remember me and my family in their prayers. It is a comfort to realize that the Lord hears the prayers of all who call upon Him; and we, of this Internet parish, are a true community of believers whose prayers are heard by the Lord, regardless of 'jurisdiction'.
May the Lord grant His choicest blessings to all who come here and who offer their prayers for the well-being of others.
Blessings to All!
