Pani Rose,

/It must be totally confusing there. I use to think of the Scripture of Christ weeping over Jerusalem, saying 'when I return will I find any faith' thinking that he meant the world. I often wonder now days if Jesus did not literally mean 'Jerusalem'./

Jerusalem might be considered by some spiritually as a type of the world, but I think he really meant Jerusalem.

Bless you tonight,

Mary Jo

Shlomo Lkhoolkhoon,

According to Ha'aretz and the Palestinian news agency Wafa "say that Bartholomaus, Patriarch of Constantinople, sent a letter yesterday to Irineos with the salutation "Patriarch Irineos, Jerusalem," rather than "The Patriarch Irineos of Jerusalem," something which constitutes a recognition of the dismissal."

Shlomo Lkhoolkhoon,

I am postsing twice since these are bitter (the previous post) sweet (this one).

Eparch Atalla Hana of the Orthodox Jerusalem Patriarchate has stated: "the Arab community will gain influence in the Church as a result of Irineos' dismissal." Which all Middle Eastern Christians have been seeking over the long run.

All the things I have heard about Atalla Hana have not been complimentary...I believe he was dismissed as spokesman for the Patriachate several years ago...

Eparch Atalla Hana - Good man, very patriotic - I just wonder if they ask him once to choose the Church of his natunality what would he choose.

I hope he might join this forum once, i believe he has a site, maybe i'll search for it one day and invite him. I am truely looking forward to hear this great man's words.

Shlomo Lkhoolkhoon,

As of today, both Palestine and Jordan have removed their recognition of Irineos as Patriarch of Jerusalem for the Eastern Orthodox Church.

I understand these bishops in Jerusalem are Greek, but what are most of the people? I would think they are not Maronite, since that is mostly from Lebanon. Are they Melkite, other Arab rites, Orthodox, Catholic, what? Of course, I know there are Latins there.

Most of the people near Jerusalem are Orthodox and Latin but you have them all there (Melkite, Koptic etc.) ARAB = Nationality - and we dont have Arab rites just like you don't have indian/american/afgani rites.

Thanks for the information. But you have to realize that all the people in that part of the world pretty much look alike to us of Northern European origin. At this distance, it's really difficult to tell who does what, or what group is representative of the area. Sad to say, we don't hear much unless something makes the news, and it's usually something bad.

WELL Last night it was on the news, I think FOX. They love to air dirty laundry don't they. mad Why not cover what the Franciscans, Melkites, or Marioites are doing there to rebuild the place, both Spiritually and physically.

Humm, I wonder if you built a TV station that only told about the good news of the day? Tell about what people did to help others, how the churches have basements open for homeless to sleep. About a grandad who takes in someone to help, that has little himself, but feels really blessed. They must think people would be really bored with GOOD news!

Dear Eli:

When the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem was reconstituted in the 19th century, its clergy was mostly non-Arab.

Presently, however, would you be able to confirm that the clergy of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, under HB Michel Sabbah (who is Palestinian born himself), are nearly 100% Arabic?

One of the few exceptions is an auxiliary bishop of Hebrew descent who takes care of the flock on the Israeli side.

Pani Rose, that is an INSPIRED idea! A "good news only" station!

Gaudior, who might even get satellite TV for that.
