Dear Friends,

I've come across a very interesting and spiritually rich website - although it is in Serbian:

http://www.bsn.org.yu

It contains numerous akathists, including several to Serbian Saints. It also has the full Serbian translation of the Psalter of the Mother of God by St Ephrem the Syrian.

What also impresses me greatly about it is its extensive presentation on the Rosary, er, I mean the Rule of the Mother of God by St Seraphim plus several ways of saying it.

One way is to include a Troparion relating to the mystery of each decade (neat or what?).

The Serbs have a wonderful way of praying the Jesus Prayer for others.

One begins by saying the Jesus Prayer "have mercy on me a sinner" and then one adds "and (say the names of those one wishes to pray for)"

Then one continues the Jesus Prayer for "me a sinner and those mentioned." Or something like that.

An excellent site.

Alex

Dear Incognitus,

I regularly attend a Slava for St Simeon's Day - a marvellous one at that!

The Kollyvo is stupendous, the roast suckling pig is incredible, and the hot Sliwowice is a true religious experience . . . smile

Which Name-saint does the Slava honour - that of the originating member of the family?

Alex
