...so I stuck it here. I wanted to thank God for being so beautiful. Tonight He let me look in the mirror and see a sinner and because of that, because I know Him I can at last begin to appreciate the truth of our faith. God's name is Mercy. That He would create a sinner like me, knowing I would sin, and lavish grace after grace upon me. Its beautiful. He whose word never returns to Him fruitless as Wisdom says, He it is who makes Himself into something that cant even speak (bread and wine) for a sinner, for me...God takes the nothing (me) and gives him everything (Himself). Without cost, without coercion, just freely...freely...God does it all for us. Our religion, our faith. All of it is for us. Its beautiful. He puts Himself into us and carries our cross for us, drawing us to Him without us even making an effort. He in His beauty, He does all this...for nothing. His glory is never added to, His essence never alters, He just is. Yet in His benevolence He lets us exist, He lets us have Him, have everything. I cant fully express what it is I want to say. But I think at last I have entered the first mansion of St Teresa of Avila's interior castle, or rather, God has let me in and I wanted to thank Him and to share...Hopefully with time, if His Divine Mercy shines upon me more than it has, I will get to the seventh mansion Amazing...amazing. For behold I was concieved in sin and in sin did my Mother concieve me and from the day I knew how I have been sinning more still. At no time in my existence did I ever warrant the right to exist before the Blessed One. Yet before He formed me in the womb He knew me and consecrated me and endowed me with a nature that can actually know His love. It is beyond belief. Jesus, Son of God, Have Mercy on me, a sinner You are beautiful... *smiles* I have found Him again Fr Gregory. What was missing, it has returned. I have found Him because He came to find me. What a grand birthday present and there isnt even a Graemlin for tears of joy. Alone, studying for exams, I had no cake today, no party, and hardly any of my friends knew it was my birthday. It was indeed my first birthday away from home, away from my family. And yet... Its best birthday I've ever had. Thanks be to God

We won't discuss birthdays too much, since I have had more than I wish to count. So many, in fact, that I have now decided that the best way to get even with everyone is to simply outlive them. But happy birthday to you, and I hope it is a magnificent birthday. By the way, I may have socks that are older than you.

Dear Myles,
What a beautiful post. You are very, very eloquent, but I'm sure it's not you, but the Holy Spirit speaking through you. 'He' our comforter, is so recognizable.
Do have a very, very happy birthday.

Dear Myles, Here's a birthday technique that worked for me, so maybe you'ld like to try it. Invite some friends of your choice out to dinnere and a show (also of your choice) and do NOT tell them what the occasion is - don't even entertain any guesses. If anybody point-blank asks, you respond with the question "do I have to have a special reason to treat myself to your good company?" At some point in the course of the evening, get up from the table, find a quiet nook and telephone your mother, without whom you would not have a birthday to enjoy. Have a lovely evening! Feel free to invite me.
