Whatever your beverage, have one on me! I am feeling very happy today! I have given in my dissertation and have had my last lecture. Only the Easter Holiday, and three more exams and - hopefully, touch wood - I would have gotten my BA in History. I cannot believe how quick three years have gone....challenging, perhaps I could have done a bit better in some areas, but a top-notch experience. This thread is as much about my dissertation as anything; it was a difficult effort but its over. 9.736 words (max. 10,000) on "Signs and Marvels in the Reign of Henry II". I can only hope that the markers like it! I'll know by June 13th! Anyway...have another drink on me!!!!!!!! Anton

Mega Mnohaya Lyitas!!!!!!!!
Have a double one on me!!!!
(and since it's the Weekend, it's even allowed - free & clear!!!! (though I am sure this circumstance would warrant some sort of Indult or Dispensation based Ekonomia)
Again, congratulations.
Peace be with us.

Hey - you can now concentrate on spiritual things for the rest of Great Lent What a feeling of relief to be rid of that dissertation - not to mention the regulations as to its presentation - what was it - Right hand page only to be used, double spaced with Right hand margin wider than Left., 21/2" top and bottom margins and of course the all important specified colour of cover and binding. Don't they really put you through it. Anyway relax for a few days and then get down to work for the last three torments and then --- well the world will be your oyster. Enjoy the drink - care to send one up through the ether ? Anhelyna

My dear friends (hope I am not being presumptuous!)....thank you very much!!!! And yes.....all the ridiculous rules... I had to pay 6 to get my two copies bound but it was a fascinating topic to write about. Not much was written on it so I was a bit nervous. The great sense of belief that people had..it is difficult to explain without reading my dissertation. Suffice to say....I have grown extremely fond of Roger of Howden and the wonderful Bishop of Chartres, John of Salisbury - one of the top medieval people!!!!!!! Anton

Anton Hey - only 6 for binding - not bad at all . How did you manage that ? Daughter # 1 had to cough up 25 and that did not cover the cost of typing or the purchase of the specified cover. Man , students are getting it easier now They don't know they are born.

Great Congratulations! Theses and Dissertations are probably the worst aspect of getting a degree. What is clearly interesting is the fact that the research and the writing are of course the most important elements, but the foolish "making" the document, including the formatting of the footnotes and the [shudder!] bibliography, along with the ruler-holding librarians who see microns of 'over margin' and therefore documents that need to be re-typed, is crazy-making. Of course, nowadays, with laser printers, it's a lot easier than in the old days when it was all hand-typed.
At any rate: congratulations! And yeah, a double - at least, when you turn it in to the librarians.
Blessings!
