Kind of makes the Reverend Fred Phelps and his tiny following look sane by comparison.

It speaks well for Europe that the Mohammedans can stage anti-Christian protests in Europe. Any bets as to what would happen if Christians were to stage anti-Islamic protests in the Muslim states?

I'm having some trouble verifying that these photos actually came from AP and Reuters and identifying who these people are and what the events are supposed to be.

For all I know, the people pictured may be provocateurs and these may not even be demonstrations. I attend demonstrations regularly and have never, ever seen such nonsense.

This misnamed "congress" seems to be almost entirely supported by the Christian zionists and the woman who heads this non-existant group seems to draw most of her support from Jewish groups and congregations. She also seems to be making a living at the fringes of the anti-terrorist industry.

Even if she and this group have some limited legitimacy, the Maronite role in the civil war in Lebanon was simply awful and that role overshadows this woman's legitimacy. The Greek Orthodox, to their great credit, were the one group who passed through the civil war without a militia. And there were groups with militias which were founded on multi-confessional solidarity as well. We cannot forget what happened at Shabra and Shatilla.

I thought that it was great that the BBC report on the peace demonstrations in Lebanon featured both some Maronites and Muslims. The Maronites I have heard addressing the demonstrations have spoken to the complexity of the issues at hand--complexities which provocative photographs can't possibly capture.

So we are in a situation where people keep putting provocative images out there internationally and each side reacts to the images in a race to the spirritual bottom. Either someone stands down or we have a war.

One Love.

Bob,

You are certainly at interesting fellow.

Are you familiar with Stephen Schwartz? I suppose you would consider him not a true Muslim or something. I don't know. At any rate if you haven't read his two faces of Islam you should. It might round out your understanding of things.

Bob I'm from London. Those pictures were from London. If you're having trouble believing then look at the website of the bbc or any other well respect british newscaster/newspaper.

Its not up to me to decide who is or is not a true Muslim or Christian or anything else. I'll leave that to God and His wisdom and judgement.

I put off reading Schwartz because he's boring and tendentious and self-serving, but I will indeed read the book now. Thank you!

I can suggest several other books you should read also. Maybe we can trade book lists. That might indeed be helpful in understanding one another.

I only said that I was having problems verifying the cited sources of the photographs, which were AP and Reuters, and what they in fact depicted or how they were set up. I still suspect that these people are either fanatics or provocateurs; they do not typify Islam any more than, say, the KKK typifies Christianity.

And I think that I referred to them as nonsensical or something of the order. If I saw people at a demonstration like that, I would confront them. So would most other rally organizers.

Who sponored the alleged protest at which these photos were taken? Has anyone followed up with the protest organizers to see what, if anything, was done about the presence of these people? Absent these details, we have only provocative images.

I also said, or tried to say, that I thought that the website was using these images in a provocative (as opposed to newsworthy) way and that this exchange of imagery between Muslim and Christian worlds was being done to incite hatred. If this is not deliberate, so much the worse--deliberate provocations can be stopped but unintended provocations cannot be. In either case, the way is being paved to war. And given the US positioning for war in Lebanon--see my previously posted link on the subject--I am justifiably suspicious of motives and concerned about possible provocations.

The website itself comes from a non-existant group. I am trying to track down their tax and incorporation status today. The main actor in this group is a mysterious Maronite with ties to Christian zionists and extreme Jewish zionists.

I remain unconvinced by this, or certainly so far unwilling to join the chorus calling for further provocations.

One Love.

Dear Bob,

Someone spoke today on FOX, (which I hope you watch once in a while in order to get a more rounded point of view), and he said that the caricatures in the Danish paper were printed in October. They were posted by an English Muslim cleric that tries to give the impression that he is quite 'moderate'. In reality, he is not...and frankly I cannot recall everything he said about him.

Now three pictures that appeared in the Middle East were never in the Danish newspaper. They were the most obscene. He also said that there ar not that many Danish flags in that part of the world, so why are they popping up all over the place.

Well my question is: Is the cartoonist, or the editor of the paper a Jew? Why Denmark? Has any kind of agreement been made in some way that makes the Arabs feel that they have been compromised by Denmark?

Also, are any of the publishers or editors of the other newspapers that printed the pictures Jewish? If not, then are the papers owned or controlled by Arabs in some way? I know that many magazines and newspapers in Europe are owned by wealthy Saudi's, etc.

Something is going on, and we are not getting the whole picture. As for the Arabs, they do not only follow their leaders blindly, but are easily manipulated. Too bad! It does seem we are heading for a war. What a pity that we must always have a war in order to achieve peace.

I read that on some blog somewhere that things like such a provocative comic as this could be planted by the Muslim themselves so they would have a reason to cause such disorder in the community.

Also this morning on the 700 Club...there was a talk about Muslims wanting to convert everyone to Islam...and they would do everything to make it happen. Muslims claim to be a religion of peace whereas Muhammand himself isn't a man of peace.

I can't remember the details of the 700 Club reports and comments.

I just know that the Muslims are thrilled with the neutralized Christianity in Europe...meaning that Christianity is dying out so they can easily convert people.

They said that a house divided cannot stand. What does that mean?

I just wonder why are there so many Muslim sympathizers? I mean...we should not hate the Muslims...but why are there people tolerating the violence from the Muslims because of some stupid comic strip or etc...and at the same time not acknowledging that the Muslims commit hateful violence towards the Christians and the Jews? It's just so baffling!!!

President Bush and the Vatican should have NEVER said anything about the comics...should have kept hte mouths shut. Because when somebody opens a mouth saying that we condemn the comics...while the Muslims are destorying the path they're in because they're angry over some comic...I mean..it's so ridiculous! Nobody condemned the acts of violence!!! What a cowardice on both sides!!!
