ok - I realize that this has absolutely NOTHING to do with Byzantium, but I was searching down memory lane remembering my youth when Marlin Perkins and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom came on the TV...

and low and behold, I found it!

http://www.wildkingdom.com/history/dvd_promo.html

It's a long way from Steve Erwin nearly losing his leg (or other sundry body parts) while wrestling live crocs! Marlin looks pretty well tucked away in a brush somewhere with his walkie-talkie while the minimum wage camera crew is within 5 feet of a ravenous leopard, but it's still fun drama!

Can anyone else remember the theme song?

"Mutual of Omaha means people you can count on when the goin's rough!" :p

Gordo, who will think about that theme song all day today

Gordo,

You are certainly too young to remember this, aren't you? In any event, you've brought back some very pleasent memories for me.

Not at all! I'm close to crossing the "threshold of hope" (aka 40) and have fond memories of the family gathering around the TV each week to watch the show. To see it now is such a hoot!
