Dear Pani Rose,

I personally prefer one similar in style to below:

My only issue with this one is that the IC XC is missing from around Jesus, and the I AM is missing from the halo. For an icon, I found these desirable.

This is from the same site, a year later:

http://www.serfes.org/spiritual/march2001.htm To me, it is much better.

However, this one is my favorite:

It depicts the Holy and Life-Giving Cross in the background. So deep in meaning to me.

Michael, Christ is Risen!

Of the two examples that you posted, I like the second one better. I am not a fan of Monastery Icons or how they take liberalities with the rules involving iconography.

In the Risen Christ,
Father Anthony+

I agree, Father. The second one is a favorite of mine as well.

Are there any special prayers associated with christ the Good Shepherd in the Byzantine tradition?

I am not aware of any special prayer, but maybe Alex (Orthodox Catholic) or Diak may know of one.

In the Risen Christ,
Father Anthony+
