This comes from Jimmy Akin's blog:

Part-way through, I was really starting to not like that priest, and therefore the story. Then it got going good and I saw some hope. Then there was that whole Adam deciding pre-history thing thrown in. Seemed like an odd place to send up a theological trial balloon like that. The ending I'd give a 7 or 8 when compared to the strong conflict-point. Overall, I liked it. I certainly would not share it with Protestant friends or family, though. What did you think?

I thought that it was a neat story. The author is a scifi/horror writer who is a Catholic and incorporates The Faith in his books and stories.

I wasn't expecting the story to take the turn it had taken. I won't give away the end or the plot but those who have read it know what I mean.

I think that I may give this author a chance. I used to read Stephen King books when I was a teenager. But his stuff is so perverse sometimes that I can't stomach his works anymore. So Tim Powers might be a good alternative.

Also on Jimmy Akin's blog; the author himself, Tim Powers posted a few comments and interacted with some of the readers. I think that's neat!
