post at www.byzcath.org, 27 February 2005 Hi All, How does the Christian East regard St. Casimir of Poland - Lithuania? He is the patron saint of my parish. In the Western / Latin Rite Church, he is remembered as a prince of high moral character, and piety, who died young. He is also remembered as a good administrator in the few official assignments he had before he died; and he is remembered for refusing to make war just for booty. However, all of that remembering is by the West. I was wondering how the East remembers him? Thank you in advance for your responses. --John

My main man! My last name is a variation of Casimir, and I have a devotion to him, including a first class relic.
I read somewhere, that when the Russians took over parts of Poland or Lithuania, they forbade devotion to him. Oh well. The Sisters of St. Casimir have their Provincial headquarters in Chicago.
