FYI American Friends Service Committee is collecting these items to send to the Iraqi people.

Soap
Shampoo
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Hair Brushes
Combs
Nail Clippers
Band-Aids
5.00 donation to off set shipping
Dead line is 4/30/03
If you go to their web site www.afsc.org [afsc.org] it will give the specifics and where to send it. They have different sites. Our Byzantine Community did this for the people of Kosovo. I am bringing literature to Liturgy to ask if we can do this again. It will make a good project for lent.
What I like about this group is that they don't take sides. Whoever needs the care package will receive it.

This is great thinking.

I wonder if the Church has anything like a "Habitat for Humanity" that could pull together some teams to literally rebuild Iraq?

Dan,

Are you thinking about going to Iraq?

Well...I hadn't thought about it until you just mentioned it. It may well be something for me to pray about...not as a human shield, which was a bit silly, but to help rebuild and teach.
