Can anyone tell me a good place to purchase a "real" icon, that is one actually painted according to the canons? Preferably not too expensive. I have would like to get one of St. Nicholas. Thanks!

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Don, I have a fairly large list I can e-mail you or you can come over and get it. There are several good icon writers in both Europe and North America. We recently had an Obraz icon (Holy Mandylion, Napkin, Icon Made without Hands) written by a family in Donetsk which was very nice and reasonable.

If you want to see a nice recent icon of St. Nicholas look at the Decani monastery's gallery at http://www.kosovo.com/icon_studio.html

God bless.

These sisters also have an icon studio. I am confident that they follow the canons.
