Friends, Christ is risen!
Truly He is risen! A humourous story for Easter Monday: A man had been shipwrecked on a remote island in the Pacific, and was alone for 20 years. When a ship finally arrived, his rescuers were impressed with the three buildings he had built and asked him about them. "Well," the man replied, "this is my house, and that building over there is my church. It's a wonderful church and I hate to leave it." "And what is the third building yonder?" a rescuer asked. "Oh, that is the church I used to go to," the man replied. via Palmer Stiles Melbourne, FL Fellowship of Merry Christians Web Newsletter Paul

Dear Paul: Since we are both in a good mood today after the observance of our Holy Week, especially the Triduum, let me add this "letter" to: Dear Abby:
My husband is a liar. He has cheated on me from the very beginning and, when I confront him, he denies everything.
What's worse, everyone knows he cheats on me. It is so humiliating!
Also, since he lost his job more than 2 years ago, he has not sought for a new one. All he does is sit around the living room in his underwear and watch TV, while I work my butt off just to pay the bill(s).
Since our daughter went away to college, he does not even pretend to like me anymore. He keeps on callimg me a lesbian!
What should I do?
(Signed.) Clueless
Dear Clueless:
Dump him! Since you became a New York U.S. Senator, you don't need him anymore! Happy Easter Monday! AmdG

In the Eastern Church Easter Monday is a day for jokes and pranks because God played the eternal joke on the devil by having Jesus die on the cross only to be raised from the dead on Easter!!
Happy Easter! Feliz Pascua!

Dear Paul, We have always kept Bright Monday with the tradition of throwing some water on sleeping relatives. I understand that in the villages of Eastern Europe, this was the origin of the "wet shirt contest. . ." My father once woke me up with some sprinkling of water, just as my brother came up behind him with a much larger quantity . . . It literally "whetted" our appetite for all sorts of pranks that day . . . And Cantor Joseph questioned me on my sense of humour! Alex

CHRISTOS VOSKRES!
Hey Alex
For the last 6 or 7 years, I've been fortunate enough to represent the Embassy of the Slovak Republic at the White House Easter Egg Roll and share many of the customs and traditions of Slovakia and the Slovak people.
One year, the new chef of the Slovak Embassy showed up with her husband and her assistant. They were talking with me and were amazed that I still made the traditional eggs. She turned around and I doused her good with a cup of ice water that I had on the table.
She got this look of total shock on her face and then her face lit up in this GIGANTIC smile and she burst out laughing. She laughed so hard, she had tears streaming down her face. Her husband and her assistant were also laughing.
She and I became REALLY good friends until she returned to Slovakia following her husband's heart attack...

ps unfortunately, this year I was not asked to do the Easter Egg Roll. It was not "open" to the "public" only to military families. Quite the disappointment since there are usually over 40,000 that attend and this year it was limited to 12,000...

Dear John, Surely you mean "not yet dead," don't you? You have to have extra energy to continue with the Fast longer . . . Alex

Dear Marko, Good for you, Big Guy, what an honour! (I mean the White House thing, not the throwing of water at a woman, although that can be an event in and of itself, I imagine . . . ). Some women I know think of men as being absolute "dolts." As one said to me recently, "Women see the problem as being that men truly ARE all created equal!" Happy Pascha! Alex
