Hello all,
It might sound like a stupid question: What happened to Pope John Paul's glasses?
It's a question I've been wanting to know for at least 10 years, but never asked!!! LOL
I've seen some old photos of him as a young man, a priest, as a young bishop, etc. wearing glasses.
But when he became the pope...or maybe when he was a cardinal, he wasn't wearing glasses.
What happened? Did he have a surgery to improve his vision or what?
Thanks!

Ha ! I was thinking the same thing yesterday, but was too timid to ask. Then I thought that maybe he got contacts. Then I thought it would be impossible for him to insert the contacts with his hands shaking from Parkinsons so much in his later years. Thanks SPDundas for posing this question.

This is pure guessing but maybe his eyes improved. It is not unusual when we get older for that to happen.
I used to need glasses for long distances and was fairly near sighted for most of my life. In the past few years (am in my sixties) my need for correction of the near sightedness has all but disappeared. I passed my eye test for renewal of my driving license so they aren't indicated on that either anymore. Now, however, I need them for reading and am now far sighted. Used to be able to read without them. So...could be a reverse for him happened as well.
Blessings,
Porter
