You gotta see this - I personally think it is blasphemy FAITH UNDER FIRE 'Saint Bill Clinton' ignites religious rage Artist uses ex-president's 'holy' image to market T-shirts, lunchboxes While Americans have a wide range of views regarding former President Bill Clinton, a Kentucky artist's depiction of the former commander in chief as God himself or a Catholic-style saint is raising those opinions to passionate levels across the nation. The portrait, titled "Saint Clinton," is the creation of Scott Ritcher, a 34-year-old graphic designer who is now marketing T-shirts, posters, magnets, coffee cups, coasters and even lunchboxes with the picture reminiscent of the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" images. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=40523

Dear Pani Rose,
A friend of mine is actually a relative of your president Bill Clinton - he has the exact same surname and even LOOKS just like him.
But he doesn't act like him though . . .
He is very pious (one of his hobbies is giving a tour of "Haunted Toronto").
And he is also a devoted monarchist.
Him I would definitely put forward for possible canonization!
Alex

You know, it's been my observation that those who lack inspiration and creativity, often turn to the bizarre as a cover for having little noticeable talent.

Alex said: A friend of mine is actually a relative of your president Bill Clinton - he has the exact same surname and even LOOKS just like him. That really is noteworthy, since he was born William Jefferson Blythe and his surname was changed to Clinton only after his mother married a man bearing that particular surname. Logos Teen

Dear ByzanTN:
I humbly agree. What I especially loved was when he claimed not to be able to anticipate that his painting would offend some people. Could someone really be that obtuse?
Yours,
hal

Dear Teen Logo,
Yes, I know that background - I think the fact that he looks like him is just a freak of nature.
He is related and he could tell you how he is related. He has a hyphenated name, "Fiennes-Clinton."
He is also related, by blood, to an earldom in Britain - sixth in line.
As fate would have it, the five heirs ahead of him are in great health!
Good for them!
Alex

Dear Alex,
Re-reading my post, it is possible that it might be misunderstood to say that I was doubting your story. I just want to clear up that I don't doubt that, and agree that the similarity is an odd accident of coincidence.

I guess that painting gives new meaning to the phrase "bleeding heart liberal." :p Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist. What's next? Hilary in the guise of the Virgin, maybe "Our Lady of Perpetual Welfare"? Personally, I find the painting to be in bad taste, even if it is meant to be satirical. Seeing ANYONE'S head in place of Christ's in such a composition is offensive to me. From an artistic stance, I think it is satire gone askew. The artist didn't fully think of his concept, its implications, and how the image of the Sacred Heart is used in Roman Catholic iconography. Aside from the Virgin Mary, no saint is portrayed with a visible heart in Roman Catholic art. (Someone with 12 years of Catholic schooling should know that.) Therefore, showing Clinton in the form of Christ is taking him above "Saint" and making him akin to "Clinton the Savior." If the artist wanted "Saint Clinton," he would have been better off showing the former president in white robes and a halo... maybe holding a cigar. Okay, I really will stop now. Dave

From the 1st Letter of Clinton to the Corinthians: For I implore ye, my brothers in Christ, inhale thee not, for in the inhaling occurs sin, but not in the smoking. And use thee not the word 'is', for in such ambiguity of verb does the devil surely live.
Feel thee instead each others pain, for such is the way of true sincerity. And have thee not sex with that woman, but in other acts of physical pleasure, thy might partake of, for truly such is not sex.
And if thine enemies subject thee to Special Prosecutors, and lo, even bring impeachments upon thy head, cry thee out unto the networks and in them shall thee find thy salvation. :p

Dave Actually, Hilary would more likely be "Our Lady of Perpetual Health Care." And you are right, the art is offensive. One of the iconographers on the Forum would have to confirm this, since I am not sure, but I think the rules of iconography forbid the depiction of internal organs.
