Dear Friends,

I'm now going to enter a process that will, with just a bit of luck wink , result in me reentering the academic world as an assistant professor.

There's some real hard work ahead of me, and I've promised my wife (she who must be obeyed) to stay off my internet activities until I achieve what is now a primary personal goal.

It will take a few months, together with research proposals et alia, so I'll see you later.

And please do try to be nice to one another while I'm gone . . . smile smile

Thanks and please pray for me - between postings that is! smile

Your humble if troublesome servant,

Alex

Daj Bozhe shchastya i z'drovya, Olexandr. May the Holy Spirit guide you and dwell in you.

What a coincidence, as I was just very recently offered to teach a class at a local Catholic college next fall. Something must be in the air... smile I'll be picking your brain profusely, pan Doktor...

What a bunch of dolts you all are to fall for this ruse yet again! What is this? the nine hundredth time Alex has claimed to be "leaving" us? Please. The smart money is on--as it always should be--him getting as far as the door, perhaps even turning the knob slightly, MAYBE even dipping his toe outside, but never, never getting any farther than that. This isn't cynicism; it certainly isn't a mistrust of his motives; it is, simply, a recognition that we are the most charming bunch of Internet interlocutors he could ever wish for and therefore he finds himself utterly unable to break free from our winsome words and ways! biggrin

I never bet the house!

Alex,

I am sorry that it took so long to respond in this thread.

I think that you'd be a great prof. May the Lord grant it.

Of course in this case, if Adam's the house, I just might be cajoled into betting with him on this one.

Steve
