I tried EWTN.com last week & just now, and get the "can't be found" screen.

Anybody know what's going on?

Just curious.

Must be that angelic intervention. wink

It seems to be fully up & working now - tho' now it asks if I want to download Flash Maicromedia, yadda, yadda, which it NEVER did before, so mebbe they were tinkering with the site.

Go figure.

For what it's worth, EWTN was "off the air" for over two weeks for me, even though other people assured me that they were up. Then, one day, it just re-appeared.

Go figure!

Dear Sharon,

Shalom Aleichem!

Perhaps the bishops ordered them shut-down for some reason?

EWTN is run by a lot of lay-people, you know . . . wink

The EWTN Q&A forum has not been working properly for the past few weeks. Last monday a specialist came in to fix the software, and it worked fine for a day or two. Then it suddenly stopped working again on the twelfth, and has not been working since. Hopefully it will be straightened out soon.

Perhaps a deeper reflection on the subtle distinctions between the little furry cuddly haggis and the dear little haggis and their search for the rumored third subspecies of the haggis could shed light on the mystical mythic meaning! biggrin

A site that prefers Latins? Mirable dictu!

Just a thought arising from meditation on insights posted by two of my favorite posters on another thread looking for good advice.

Wisdom on the haggis!

Dear Steve:

I am still Inawe and mystified because of the failure of, or convenient avoidance by, either angel (of Glasgow or of Cow-lumbus) to confirm or deny reported reliable sightings that the haggis (the Scottish variety, that is) has developed, by evolutionary circumstance, a 3rd leg?! eek

Dear Amado,

It is a puzzlement! cool

Maybe knowledge of the reality the missing third legged haggis is only given to the angels(of Glasgow or Cow lumbus). It is rumored to be seen only on the banks of the sacred loch in a highland mist once every hundred years for a day. It has been reported that angels gather to celebrate that day with the highland drink of ages. Following the imbibing the one imbibing is gifted with the vision needed to see the third leg. smile

It has also been rumored that the inmates are running the golden assylum. biggrin

I suspect the problem is that one variety has indeed 3 legs of unequal length - but the other one - the cute cuddly furry one is rather better equipped with 4 - set up as normal - 2 on each side, one at each corner - but remember that the unequal legs are on opposite sides of this wonderful little creature. It has taken evolution a long time to come up with this wee beastie - no not a cow'ring timorous beastie- that has evolved to this highly specialised state, that suits its surroundings perfectly

Dear Haggis Huggers,

I suppose the next thing you'll be suggesting is the canonization of Robbie Burns? wink

Dear Angel of Glasgow,

It has been observed that scientific understanding is greatly enabled by frequent use of the highland drink of ages. Useful stuff that! biggrin

Youv'e just given me a good idea - must try some !

Thank you for that - I have a rather nice supply laid aside for an occasion like this biggrin

Alex,

Hmm - I'm not too sure about that - to be honest - I don't think there are sufficient miracles as yet

Dear Alex,

The ceremony can be held in the "Old Country" where a grand statue of Robbie can be found outside of Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh.

Since it's a statue, perhaps the Latins should make things rite? biggrin

Of course the ceremony can take place in a scotish rite in Glasgow in an even older country.

Oh dear - this is going from bad to worse - there is only 1 possible place for the ceremony - here of course wink . If it is done anywhere else it would be invalid.

Now - if you would excuse me for a bit - some fluid calls

The EWTN web site has been having problems for the last fortnight or so. Not sure the problem - try again in a few minutes and often it'll be back.

Dear Steve,

We used to attend the Robbie Burns' Day celebration here since that and Ukie Independence Day were often held on the same evening every January . . .

And Hetman Bohdan Khmelnitsky even had a Scots general in his army.

He said he didn't understand a word he said, but he fought like a demon . . .

After seeing "Braveheart," I can believe it . . .

Dear Alex,

Perhaps the general had one of the wee beasties for inspiration augmented with the highland drink of ages. Hence the demons? biggrin

Steve

PS That must be some celebration! Surely the level of understanding of science there in January must grow exponentially! wink

OK, I give!

Ed was haveing the same problem and since I am only two miles away from EWTN I will make the phone call.

I have had trouble accessing the document library, but not the site.

Here is the scoop. I talked to them and they said it has been down for two weeks. You can see the pages up, but accessing documents or experts is not possible.

They also said they are taking the hammer, chisel, and duct tape to it, and hope to have it up as soon as possible.

Young man that I spoke with also ask for prayer for it!!!!!!!!

On second thoughts - it might help them get the Site up properly again biggrin

The haggis probably knows as much about it as they do.

Sharon

Dear Sharon, Angela, Rose, and all interested parties,

Augmenting that with the highland drink of ages should increase his understanding of science. That might help. At the very least it could motivate the repair person to work like a demon to place the duct tape properly after chiseling.

After all, look what it did to the Hetman's general. biggrin

Someday for the fun of it, I am going to take pictures of the back of EWTN and see if they will post them.

There is a song that states "I wonder at the marvels of our God"....well if you could see it...you would marvel.

It is an amazing site to me. When we drive past and I see all of those satellite dishes behind it...I marvel at the God's Word about His Word going out to all of mankind. It is done from this little patch of ground. HAHAHAHAHAHA....amazing and the area that the dishes sit on is propably not as big as some of our smallest churches. There must be 8 or 10 dishes out there, totally mind boggleing!

When they put up the first dish and the picture they took showed a streak of fire shooting up to the heavens from it, looking at it now you can see why. It is impossible for me to imagine the amount of communication they handle in a day. No wonder Mother moved her sisters out to Hanceville. An aweful lot of business, spiritually and physically happens there day in and day out.

How Awesome is our God!
