I finally can get back online after several months of computer problems and Alex isn't here. Is he on vacation? Did he get in another spat with John? (I wish he wouldn't do that.) I enjoy his contributions even though he's sometimes too thin skinned. Where's Moe? I bet if he knew I was back on he'd come back to give me a hard time. Ditto for Don from Kansas.

Oh well, sometimes we all need a little irritation to keep the old blood flowing.

Dan,

Alex has departed.
I have tried everything possible to get him out of lurking mode, but it seems like he has gone forever this time.
It just has not been the same.

Sniff ! sniff ! sniff !

GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST!

If I'm not mistaken, Don from Kansas is gone as well...

Maybe Diak can shed some more light on Don...

In believe that Alex actually requested that the Administrator block his posts, as in "stop me before I post again".
Don quit in a huff over a couple of obnoxious Latin posters, right before they were exiled by the Administrator...

I miss Alex, too. You might try insulting Mrs. Mountbatten. That usually gets his attention. biggrin

Speaking of the C of E, you might enjoy these hymn parodies on Church of England hymns from The Wenchoster Cathedral Hymn Book [pharisaios2.scriptmania.com]

No need to insult anyone - if we wish to get Alex into a tizzy, we have only to refer politely to Mrs. Battenburg.

If you are going to gossip about someone, at least get the information correct. Don left because he was tired of all the nonsense (I could use a more descriptive term, but might get banned) not just because of the obnoxious Latin posters, but because of some obnoxious Latin and Eastern posters who haven't been exiled yet.

"I think it is time to shake the forum's dust off of my feet and follow my brother Diak out the door. I can find much better places to spend my online time these days. What a pity, this used to be such a nice place to learn. But between the political rhetoric and the nuts like Wizdom, there is precious little learning going on here at this time. The nuts and fundies have spoiled it. What a pity."

But don't worry Dan, I'm still around, I don't get so easily disgusted by such types, I'm more amused and enjoy bringing them down when they get too obnoxious. Moe

Diak is gone too? Man I've been away a long time. Good to see that Moe is still around. Now if only Alex "Larry" were here. The triple threat would be complete.

I'm not known for having much taste in high culture. But if somebody has some posters in Latin, I might put them on the wall.

...but only if they are uplifting and lovely, right?
