Steve just made me laugh in answering why he is "Inawe" -- of course, I should have guessed! After all, it wasn't, I knew, some ancient Greek or Aramaic word, and the only thing I could think of was that it might be some sort of American Indian word ... signifying some spiritual ... uh ... but no, I never thought "In Awe" ... but, now that I know, well, I did enjoy hearing the story. Also it is nice to hear about someone's great appreciation of the ways of God. Sounds as if you're still very much In Awe, Steve.

As for me, well, I had to choose this name, as my reading about the saints for years and years is what brought me -- along with visiting churches -- to Christ and eventually the Church as well; also I like the name to remind myself always of those holy ones who have gone before us, interceding for us and whose lives are icons, I suppose you could say, of God's generous love. That all of us are right now ... in that Communion of Saints.

Anyone else have some screen names -- or, perhaps, instead, saint's names that they have chosen for themselves, with the reasons for that inspiration?

OK - mine - rather a long name I will admit, and when the site rose again I did think about replacing it - but decided that a slave I was and a slave I would remain

Our Lady's slave of love

How did I choose that one - therebye hangs a tale so here goes. smile

As some will know I have a great reverence for , and devotion to, Our Blessed Lady. She has given me many many blessings and I decded that in return I had to do something but was not sure what or how. My Spiritual Director suggested that I read St Louis de Montfort's 'True Devotion to Mary' and in due course after a fair amount of reading and study I made my Consecration to Jesus through Mary. I am now truly a Slave of Our Lady - I ask for nothing, I am in Her care and I trust her to intercede with Her Son on my behalf. And the blessings continue. I renew my Consecration every year.

And there you have it - my name and why I chose it

Shlomo Communion of Saints,
My screen name is my actual name in Syriac which is the language we use in parts of our Liturgy (I am a Maronite). Yuhannon means John. Within the Maronite Tradition your name means who you are. Therefore, my full given names mean "By the Grace of God (John), I am Manly (Alan), Zealous (Paul which actully means small, but to us he was zealous in his devotion to Christ), and Handsome (Andrew). Also, my personality is refected by the saints I am named for. Therefore, I am Evangelical (boy am I preachy biggrin ), Evangelical (St. Alan was a preacher [do you guys see a theme developing wink ]), Zealous (Paul), and a follower of Christ (St. Andrew was Christ's first disiple).

Well there you have my story. I hope it made some of you laugh, or at least smile.

Yuhannon,

Is the Maronite liturgy available to read on the internet? Do most Maronite churches have latinizations; does yours? Thanks.

ChristTeen287

P.S. - My screen name is pretty straightforward: I follow Christ, I'm a teenager, and my birthday is 1/2/87.
