Our wonderful county council approved for the Pasco County KKK to have their name on that sign. It lasted approximately 5 months before it was pulled. And I am certain that there are some people in the county that still have pain when trying to sit down. The Supreme Court has ruled in the KKK's favor twice now for such roadway adoptions. Missouri, when faced with the initial judicial defeat, passed legislation to re-name the section of highway the KKK had adopted. It is now known as the Rosa Parks Memorial Highway (named after the United States civil rights figure who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama, and so triggered the national civil rights movement). However, it didn't last long. The KKK never actually cleaned it up, so the group was eventually dropped for "its inability to fulfill its obligations under the program." The road's name remains. [/b]The Rosa Parks highway is a section of Interstate 55 that I drive on when I go to St. Louis. Anyone who goes north on I-55 has to drive on this highway to get to St. Louis. Incidentally, there is a section of I-70 named the Mark McGuire Highway for his 70 homeruns that he hit in 1998.

I said - truthfully - that "a parishioner" gave me one of those Jack Chick pamphlets. I didn't say whose parishioner he was!
However, I did pick up some further information. The pamphlet had an address and phone number rubber-stamped on the back as a place to get further information. So I rang the number (from a public phone booth) and made an appointment. Turned out to be sad as sad could be - welfare housing, a man who was physically ill and mentally worse - and who assured me that the Knights of Columbus were trying to kill Jack Chick, Alberto, and various other worthies.
I've never been much of a fan of the K of C, but if they were really out to waste those types, I rather suspect something would have happened over the past three decades, or however long it's been.
Haven't seen their garbage (Chick's, that is) for at least 20 years, and this thread is the first I've heard of them for about the same length of time.

Incognitus So, you're a priest. I guess that I am not the first to find this out. [/b]Dear Dr. Eric, If I were discussing something someone in my church brought me, I would also say "a parishioner brought me this"...and I am most definitely NOT a priest! ...so I don't know how exactly this word qualifies one for priesthood? I read a quote on there that said "153,000 souls die every day, most go to hell". I thought our body died and our souls was left. Does the soul die? I emailed this sad man. I wonder if the coward will write back. I'm sure if he does it will be filled with Bible quotes from the "true bible".

And I always assumed it was "40.000 men and women everyday".

Pavel,
The mascott for the University of Notre Dame is the Fightin' Irish:

In Christ, Alice [/b]I'm having fun playing detective here. Why would a parishoner bring Incognitus a Jack Chick tract that he found on a bus unless Incognitus was someone with some kind of authority or status. I'm not trying to make waves or quarrel or even try to get him to divulge his secret identity. Just speculating like everyone else.

FIGHT ON!
John Montalvo III USC 1982 [/b]Dear Father Deacon John, The Go Irish! was for the fact that they got the KKK out of Indiana. Now that I see that you went to USC... it's on! I hardly watch any college sports, but the Irish are my team! I've loved 'em since I was but a wee school lad!

Dr. Eric, Well, whomever and whatever our friend Incognitus is, we know that he is erudite, intelligent, quite well read and knowledgeable, well travelled, religious, and that he has sophisticated taste in food... AND last but not least, that he is incognito! Regards, Alice

And...he no doubt has paper bags in all the proper liturgical colors. Sounds like a man who is prepared for any occasion.

Here's a thought - what makes you assume the undersigned is only one person?

That is a very good point Incognitus. We here can only guess and speculate. Maybe Icognitus is a cover for all the EC bishops who want to lurk, post, and spy on us to see what we're up to!
