While at lunch, someone mentioned that Tel Aviv does not have any churches, synagogues or mosques.

Does anyone know if this is true? If true what are your thoughts

I thought Mt. Carmel was in Tel Aviv -- or maybe it's just outside it! And there's at least one (or more) Carmelite monasteries on Mt. Carmel. And monasteries have churches and chapels.

Hieromonk Elias, do you know the details?

Mount Carmel is just outside Haifa. The hills of Carmel rise to the south of the city, just along the coast. So Carmel is some distance north of Tel Aviv.

Dear Little Green Coat,

It does not appear to be accurate. A quick search on the 'net gave me this [guardian.co.uk] if you read down a bit you will find

The blast - outside one of the main synagogues in Tel Aviv
it appears that is more than one synagogue in Tel-Aviv. Being the financial and business capital and a large city (for Israel) it should not be surprising.
