Dear all especially Jakub,

Jos Contreras will bring sorrow to Beantown tonight! We will triumph!! I am a triumphalist as you all know, and tonight as Jakub is mourning his Bostonian heores, I will be rejoicing in the glow of victory.

Remembering fondly one hundred years of triumph (1903-2003),

Of course, Latin Trad conveniently forgets that the Scankies just saw both Clemens and Wells get lit up for a host of runs by the White Sox.

As a wise sports fan once said, "A good baseball season is one where the Yankees don't buy themselves another World Series." :p

Ruth's "called shot" in Old Comiskey.

(The World series was played in Old Comiskey that year because the Cubs' stadium was too small.)

I was not alive either. biggrin

I'm just a baseball fan . . .

AH! I see.

The lack of sportsmanship exhibited by the Yankees and their fans is a long-standing tradition.

I get it!

Dear L-T:

I echo the point made by DavidB above. It's no trick to win when you raid other teams for their best players, over-inflate their salaries and have a payroll that is equal to the GDP of a mid-sized EU country.

It's no wonder the Yankees and Man U have formed a marketing partnership. They're made of exactly the same cloth.

Krylos, the Yankees had plenty of brutal years under Steinbrenner in the 80's.

Baseball has always worked that way.

Remember that you have to give credit to the Yankees farm system, too--their long-term stars like Andy Pettite, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, etc., all came up with the team, from the minor-league system.

I sense that it is easy to be bitter if you're not a Yankees fan . . . wink

Dear L-T:

I'm not bitter. There's more important things to be bitter about - like recent Stanley Cups won by that team from "Moscow on Lake St. Clair" (that's Detroit for all of you geographically-challenged New Yorkers). :p

If it's a choice between the Yankees, the Cardinals and the Tribe, give me the Tribe any day of the week and twice on Thursdays. smile

Dear Latin Trad:

I will say one last thing - and I truly mean this. I admire your confidence.

Whenever I talk trash before a sporting event wherein I have a rooting interest, my team gets its rear handed to it.

That having been said, Go BoSox! biggrin

NY swept? Probably not. But if I were a betting man, I would have to say 2 out of 3 for the Bombers.

There, now we're both on the line.

So my Yankee Latin Compadre, we meet in competition, Bronx Bombers vs Beantown Bombers, let the games begin.

Besides, old George has lost his mind, trying to run Torre off, big mistake.

4 out of 5 from the Redbirds and (on paper) the easiest schedule of the three teams in the NL Central. I'm starting to dare to believe.

Dear L-T:

Even White Sox fans are over that one. Or is it that New Yorkers are just a little slower on the up-take? :p :p :p

Just look at his numbers after coming back from his suspension.

Oh, and, by the way, didn't Sosa beat Giambi in the home-run contest on that Pepsi commercial? biggrin

By that time, this will have mutated into an NFL "discussion", which are usually more heated, because, as we all know, baseball is boring wink .

Pro tennis, college football, and all highschool sports that I take part in are all that matters in the sporting world. Who needs baseball, basketball, or pro football when you have Andy Roddick (pro tennis), Auburn (college football), and Oak Mountain Academy tennis and soccer (my highschool sports)? LOL

LT,

Go BoSox, Bruins, Patriots. Celtics frown , since the days of Bird,Parrish and McHale the present team is a big "0".

Go Cubbies.

Dear Amado:

You are absolutely correct. I should have reminded Diak that both Chicago baseball teams are in first place. It's a wonderful time to be a baseball fan in Chicago, isn't it? biggrin

I wonder what they would call a Cubs/White Sox series?

The "El" Series?

The Battle of the Red Line? (That's the "el" line that serves both ballparks for those of you who don't know our wonderful city)

The Black against the Blue?

HMMMMM.... smile cool smile

Dear KL:

Some radio jocks have begun dubbing it the "EL Series," if, that is a BIG if, we ever come to that blissful World Series!

It could be the fiercest battle along the North-South axis of Windy City.

But I bet you, the BLUEs brothers would bloody the nose of the boys in BLACK! wink

Dear Amado:

IF it came down to it, I too would root for the Cubs (too bad so much of my closet is black wink ).

Even though the Sox have an edge in the yearly inter-league meetings, I think that it would be a classic "get em when it counts" situation.

In the meantime, I'm rooting for both teams. Anyone but those sore winners from the Bronx. eek (Except maybe the Cardinals - but only maybe).

Yours,

kl
