There must be others like us who want to experience a mystical communion with the Holy Trinity as Byzantine Catholics, right? Where are they? People who treasure the words of the Church Fathers. People who live the feasts and fasts with a burning commitment to Christ and the Church. People who want to be Byzantine.

There must be others like us. People who like us trek to our sundry Parishes scattered across Parma. There are others who haven't found us and won't find us if we cower in the corner waiting for our Church to die. We need to bring the Gospel to the world now. We need to evangelize. We need to push ahead, toss the bushel basket aside and let the light of Christ illuminate mankind.

Where are the others?

They are in homes near every parish. They are in towns and cities we've neglected.

Then we must bring the Gospel to them.

They are out there. The problem is that we can't sit around waiting for them to come to us. We need to go to them.

Dear Friends,

Almost once a week now, I get a phone call at home from someone who wants to become Eastern Catholic.

Some attended a marriage or funeral at an EC church, others have other reasons.

I also recommend that they tune in to this Forum, as well as see a parish priest, recommend literature etc.

I don't know how I got this kind of developing role, but I think that word of mouth is good and once we start sharing the good word, others who are interested will themselves find out how to get a hold of us!

By the way, I've spoken to a number of Lutheran pastors who have been attending an EC/Orthodox church and who want to join them formally.

Lutherans make up the bulk of those I have the privilege to speak with about joining our Church!

Oddly enough my little (and for some, controversial) akathist to Jan Hus has: a) tweaked the interest of Lutherans who want to take that first big step and ask someone for help in beginning the conversion process and b)found a certain resonance among former Protestants who have already "crossed over" and c) has been accepted by certain High Church Lutheran parishes in Germany . . .

In any event, our goose (Hus) is not yet cooked!

Alex
