Friends,

Again we thank PaniRose for her reminders and pray she continues.

Our next chat in preparation for Bishop John's Evangelization and Vision conference will be Thursday at 9:45 p.m. at http://www.brimsjewelry.com/Setup_ChurchBulletin.exe

During the chat we share ideas for the meeting that are developing and invite persons to contribute their hopes and concerns as well. It is a mixture of the planning group, those who plan on attending, and anyone else who wishes to chime in. So far it has been very helpful.

Everyone is welcome to give input. This is a group of men from the forum planning a conference on Evangelization to be held in Whiting IN on August 6th. They are from all over the US, so don't think it is just for them/a particular church to be involved. It is blessed with clergy involvement/participation, especially with Bishop John from Parma going to be present for the conference and to give his blessing.

WE AS LAYITY MUST RISE UP AND TAKE BACK THE CHURCH AND BRING CHRIST TO THE HURTING WORLD. We have so much to give, we can't wait any longer. What are we going to say to our Lord when he asks why we did not take on our cross, the responcibilty of helping our beloved clergy. The clergy cannot do everything. They wait for us to say here we are. THIS IS THAT OPPORTUNITY! Here I am Lord, send me.

This is NOT the chatroom on the Byzcath Forum. So use the above link to enter. SEE YOU THERE! Ladies come on you have input too. I just hang out, but I love to listen in. [Big Grin]

I know that Father would wish all the bishops to come. We will see what happens.

Byzantine Catholics of the world, UNITE!

Maybe Bsp JOHN MICHAEL of the Romanians can come? as well as Bsp RICHARD and ROBERT (of the UGCC in Chricago and Parma, repectively). Has anyone invited them? They live close.

I would think this would be very exciting. Have them register with the Eparchy of Parma.

Hi Dan,
I'm sorry, but I won't be awake to chat with you all. Here's an idea, however.
A couple of years ago, I read a book, 'Becoming Orthodox', about some Evangelical Christians (Campus Crusade for Christ) who became Orthodox by reading extensively and soul searching. Maybe we could use them as a model. Since Evangelical Christianity is so popular right now, why don't we try to reach out to these folks and intoduce them to the sacraments and Divine Liturgy? I think people who are passionate about Christ are the ones we are most likely to bring into our church.

Becoming Orthodox: A Journey to the Ancient Christian Faith by Peter E. Gillquist. I sent for this some time ago from amazon.com where used copies were available from marketplace sellers and, I think, still are. I learned some things from it and found it a worthwhile read for those looking into evangelization. The key to me in all of it was how hospitable, respectful, and welcoming the Orthodox involved were to those evangelicals who were seeking. From this I gleaned that hospitality is another vital key for effective evangelization.

In Christ,

Porter.
