Yes!
There were a number of articles on the Christianity Today website during and after Pope John Paul II's death which were very positive about the growing recognition between Evangelicals and Protestants of common elements in our faith. In the end, it is really all about Christ, crucified, risen from the dead and coming again in glory. He is all in all and fills all things. Praise Him, all you people, let the heavens rejoice!
Blessings

Coming from an evangelical background, it is important to keep some things in mind. We will not achieve unity for the sake of the truth. Evangelical communities are very good at picking and choosing all the things that work and those that don't. This leads to successful ministries and, at times, a strange collection of doctrines and attitudes.

What is good is that as they interact with Catholicism, East and West, they will hopefully pick up more doctrine of the true faith. What is bad is that they might consider some things unimportant or non-essential and consider things all "ok" between us. While I haven't actually met too many people willing to go this far and gloss over so many things this way, I'm not certain such a situation is that far over the horizon as Evangelicals and Catholics continue to dialogue and move closer together.

Incidentally, I'm hoping serious interaction with the Eastern Catholics is actually what's needed to jar Evangelicals to full communion. There are far too many cool ways of expressing the faith for them to miss it.

Amen! The IS really the common vision we Christians share! And we are called to Praise Him!
