Perhaps the Eparchy has these stats. I do not know. What I have seen and heard is that we have many Churches with few people and some money that could be used for mission and to start new Churches. I've seen other Churches that have much human resources but for lack of money are limited in what they can do. I also know as a former United Methodist Pastor that there are many people who could be inspired to do marvelous work for the kingdom if they had the resources to do it.

Are there ways we can get the human and the monetary resources together so Churches that need one or the other could get together? Could these get together to also form new missions in areas not now served?

Dear CD:

Is it worth repeating the apparent availability of funding, through grants, of "Home Missions" of the USCCB?

I think funding can be had either by applying independently as a lay or laity-led organization OR by simply adding your funding requirements to your Eparchy's application for the annual grants!

But, I might be entirely wrong!

Joe,

Father has challenged us with tithing and a growing number of our people are doing just that. If each congregation in turn tithed for missions then we would quickly build up a fund.

Amado,

Your advice seems wise. In fact it may be the way we will have to pursure.
