I was on my way home this morning after picking something up for my daughter for a family christening taking place at twelve noon.
I was driving down the right lane of a two way road a few miles from home which I have traveled thousands of times before, and which passes a Byzantine Catholic Church named for St. Nicholas of Myra, (with a beautiful large Byzantine crucifix looking out on the street from the church grounds) when a teenager learning to drive with an adult, suddenly cut in front of me from the left lane to make a right turn!!
Needless to say, I started beeping like mad, but he was too inexperienced and it was too late. My SUV and his mini van collided as we both tried to veer away from each other. This happened right across the street from the very visible Byzantine crucifix of our Lord facing us, of which I cross myself every time I pass.
Thanks be to God, we all walked out without a scratch, though our cars cannot say the same! Truly Jesus was watching out for us!
Unfortunately, the newly built Russian style church is a suburban offshoot of a very large nearby urban church community, so it does not seem actively used, except for Sunday liturgies, otherwise I would definitely stop in to light a candle. Hopefully, one day, I will be able to.
In Christ, Alice

Dear Alice,
Sorry that you experienced such an accident - and thankful to God that no one was hurt or injured. You probably know that lovely shrine about mid-way between Athens and Thessalonika, where many people pause to pray and light a candle. I will gladly testify that it's worth the pause.
Even without injury, I'm sure you're feeling "shaken up". Shall remember you especially at the Divine Liturgy today, God willing.
Father Serge

Praise God that you are OK! Thanks be to God!
It is interesting that God drew you there and that is the focus of your attention. I wonder how it affected the other driver, they too must have looked at it.
For sure, God is confirming to you where your protection lies. Thank you again for sharing your wonderful faith with us.

In Christ, Alice Thanks be to God you are unharmed as were the others. And that God's angels were watching over you all. When I was a college girl of about nineteen I was involved in an accident where a city bus turning on the wrong side of the road hit the car in which I was a passenger head on right in front of a large Roman Catholic church located next to our campus. The car was totaled. There were some minor injuries among the six people in the car including me (sprained ankle), but none in the bus, and we were all okay in time. I think we were looked after from above. Later I was married in that same church. You were under the shadow of His Wing as were we. Praising God for protection. Mary Jo

Dear Sister Aggeliki,
Glory to God for all. Glory to Him for protecting all involved in this car accident.
Yesterday in the evening I was praying on those stairs in Scala Santa Church in Roma. Prayer for you, for Mary Josephine, Pani Rose, Jason, all, this forum's members.
Christ is our life. Eyes on Christ!
In Risen Christ,
Marian+
